Thank you for your question! For my patients, I recommend that they remove all fingernail polish prior to surgery, however, we do also have an ear probe to monitor oxygen levels during surgery. I recommend discussing this with your plastic surgeon, to make sure they have the equipment readily available for you during your procedure. Best of luck!
Having acrylic nails would not be a problem using a pulse oximeter, however you do need to let them know at pre assessement so that alternative arrangements such as an ear lobe pulse oximeter probe can be made available for you. For optimal outcome, please consult a fully qualified plastic surgeon, who has specialist qualification in plastic surgery 'FRCS Plast' after having being trained adequately in the field of plastic surgery, is registered on the 'Specialist register for Plastic surgery' with the General Medical Council and has been considered competent enough to be a member of the 'BAPRAS' (British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons) and 'BAAPS' (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) at the least.
Thank you for your question. Pulse oximeters can be placed on a toe or earlobe but often the best and most accepted measurement is a finger. Best to check with your plastic surgeon for his/her preferences. Good luck.
Yes, you may keep your acrylic nails on, if the color of the acrylic or polish is nude or very light shades. It is not recommended to wear dark polish or you may need to remove it from at least one nail bed. It is always an excellent idea to bring any questions with you to your consultation for further clarification.
Oxygen levels can be monitored with finger or ear lobe probes, but not every facility has both. I would recommend clarifying with your surgeon in advance to see if you need to remove your nail polish. As always, seek proper consultation before treatment and best of luck!
It always amazes me how well the pulse oximeter can function through acrylic nails. But not always. There is a chance you would either need to use a toe or, if they have the attachment, the earlobe or need to cut off one nail. Perhaps you can visit a few days before and have them put it on your fingers to check.
Yes you can keep your acrylic nails while you have your breast augmentation. You do need to keep one nail without the acrylic so that the machine can read your oxygen levels. What I suggest is that my patient's keep one of their toes open for the machine. Have a great surgery!
The medications that you received during surgery should have worn off by now. However, you may be experiencing side effects of the pain medication. Please contact your surgeons office and discuss this with them. Good luck!
Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and...
Thank you for your question. The fluid in the drain tube is appropriate. Continue to follow the specific instructions given to you by your plastic surgeon. Best of luck.
