I recently gave birth in Nov 10th the a baby girl, I’ve heard hormones change the body in many ways, I’ve been researching online of what I believe may be my condition but I’m hoping it’s not. The cartlidge on my nose seems to be splitting. Can it be pyogenic granuloma? Or just caving in the lower lateral cartilage? Please help. Thank you!

Hello and thank you for your question. This is likely due to separation of your lower lateral cartilage.  Based on your
photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty.    Make sure you specifically look at
before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed
by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system.
The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I
recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic
surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

Thank you for question and photos. You do not appear to have a pyogenic granuloma. You do have a boxy tip from the cartilages that are spread apart. This may have become more noticeable after pregnancy. I recommend a tip rhinoplasty to define your nasal tip. You should get a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon experienced in rhinoplasty to discuss your goals, examine you, do a virtual simulation, and show before/after photographs to give you a better idea of what type of results you can expect to get. Congratulations on your new baby girl :). Mothers do undergo changes in their body after giving birth. It does not appear from your pictures that you have a gramuloma but you would need a physical exam to confirm this. There are a number of ways to correct your problem. One can bring together the nasal cartilages with advanced suturing techniques. At the same time, if you desire, one can narrow and refine your nasal tip. I incorporate the FINNESSE technique, which I invented. I routinely do not pack the nose. Pain and recovery are minimal when compared to traditional techniques. Not sure what the tip of your nose issues is. Whether present for some time or related to pregnancy? I doubt this is a pyogenic granuloma since to tissue growing. Best to seek in person opinions from boarded PS in our area. Also your nasal tip is bulbous which is genetic not related to pregnancy..

What you are experiencing is unlikely to be a pyogenic granuloma, but you should be examined in person to make that definitive determination.The nasal tip is composed of paired alar cartilages that frequently diverge or split at the tip.  Changes in skin thickness - which may occur with age and hormonal changes - may make the underlying cartilages more visible and more discernible to the touch.  This is most probably what you are seeing and feeling.  Nevertheless, I recommend that you see a professional to alleviate your concerns, and rule out the very unlikely scenario of something more serious.
