Do I have to wear a strap after breast augmentation? If so why?

So I've had breast augmentation. I used to be a 34d and have ahd 550cc implants. My surgeon has told me to wear a strap for six weeks which makes it super painful. Is it necessary to wear and what does it actually do?

Hi Katie786.  Thank you for your question.  Congratulations on your breast augmentation!  I recommend a strap or breast band post op to support the upper pole of the breast and especially with under muscle implants, to stop the muscle from pusing the implants too high.  The band should not be too tight to cause pain but just supportive.  Check with your surgeon or nurse. Good luck with your recovery.

hello thank you for your question and provided information as well..Always the most recommended after a breast augmentation is to use your bra post operative as this gives you the guarantee that during the recovery process implants do not move , protects and intensifies the area worked in surgery accedes faster.But my recommendation is that you ask your surgeon the advantages of the bra post operators and the amount of time that must be used, as this will guarantee a better result.

Please follow your surgeon's advice. Straps are used to help minimize upward movement of the implant, especially behind the muscle, and help expand the lower portion of your breasts to encourage your implants to settle.

Thank you for your question. A strap is helpful postoperatively, particularly after under the muscle augmentations, in encouraging the implant to settle into position. Initially, the implants tend to "ride high" as your body learns to accommodate to the presence of the implant under the muscle. Time, and the strap serves to encourage the implants descent into the proper position. Congratulations on your breast augmentation.  A strap or Bando is used to help push the implants down into position if the implants seem high and are not dropping into position.
