To get good results you need to be at a pain level 2-3 through the procedure depsite the energy. Best, Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your question. The settings influence the level of effectiveness. Our patients' comfort is our top concern so we would prefer the patient is comfortable as they experience fat reduction in treated areas in about 6-12 weeks after jut one treatment. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon. Best wishes,
It could if it was set so low that the patient did not feel the heat of levels 3 and 4. The number my be lower for some patients than for others, so rather concentrating on the number, the goal is to have the feeling of deep heat whatever the number turns out to be. SculpSure was evaluated using patient feedback and the numerical score correlated with the patient's sense of heat to achieve the optimum time/temperature curve to kill the fat cells. If you set the laser below this experimentally-determined level of heat transmission, you may see less results. This means you should be able to tolerate the feelings of Level 3 and 4, which mean a tolerable level of heat.
Great question! There is a standard setting for the SculpSure and it is adjustable because not everyone can tolerate the heat at that setting. It is not yet clear if this affects the outcome; the company does not feel that it does. On the other hand, the main reason anyone dials it down is because it is too uncomfortable to tolerate. Dialing it down seems better than stopping the treatment altogether. That being said, we have had patients notice results with both dialing it down and aborting treatment midway. Would they have gotten more if their treatment was not altered? I don't believe enough studies have been done to clearly answer this.
The heat settings do affect the results. However, it is the job of the surgeon to find the balance between a patient's pain tolerance, the heat setting and the desired outcome. Hope this helps.
Unlike most procedures, our guidelines for treating you aren't based on raw numbers but based on how YOU feel. As recommended by the developers, we score your discomfort like this:1: Pleasant cool/cold feeling2: Gentle warming and cooling3: Tingly, short intervals of warmth and cooling4: Longer peaks of moderate deep warmth andcoolingWe want you to be in the 3-4 range for fat destruction. Some people say they have a feeling of cramping or discomfort, and it it's not too bad, that's ok. Pain beyond a number 4 can make you more likely to have side effects and is not necessary for it to work. Thinner people and areas with less fat (like the upper arms or inner thighs compared to the abdomen) tend to need lower energy.
We have been treating patients with SculpSure now for 6 months and have found it to work very well. We treat patients to the highest level that they are comfortable. The treatment will destroy fat permanently at any level of treatment, but we treat patients at the level they are comfortable to try and get all the fat we can in each treatment session.
Studies have shown that good results will be seen even at the lowest settings on SculpSure. There is no need to torture yourself! If it feels too hot, have the technician adjust the device.
Thank you for your question. TheSculpSure settings will not affect your results. The settings are placedaccording to the pain tolerance of each patient. Our patients, who opted forlower settings during their procedure, still had the same great results.
Thanks for sharing your question. I canappreciate your concern. The higher the energy delivery, the higher the fat reduction, however, the studies demonstrated that you should have the benefits of the treatment even at the lower levels. Wishing you the best in your journey
SculpSure is an FDA-approved laser treatment that breaks down fat. It’s approved for the abdomen, flanks (love handles), and chin. SculpSure uses heat to destroy fat cells. It’s also less painful than most other body contouring techniques. The laser targets the layer of fat, without dis...
Thank you for your question. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon because SculpSure is a body contouring technique that can eliminate subcutaneous fat. Best wishes,
I am not sure that massage will help at all after sculpsure, although in our office we do Vanquish and Cellutone/Z Wave post treatment to enhance results. Best, Dr. Emer.
