Planning on BBL before Tummy Tuck will I still get good results? (photos)

Thank you for your question. If you're considering having a BBL and tummy tuck done individually, it makes sense to do the tummy tuck first. Then 4-5 months later, a BBL can be performed. The reason being that if you have significant excess skin and you get liposuction in that area, the area will look wrinkled, scarred, and irregular. Also doing significant liposuction on the abdomen and then having a tummy tuck later can predispose you to wound healing complications after the tummy tuck. It seems that you can benefit from a BBL; fat can be taken from many different areas (abdomen, sides, back, bra rolls, thighs, arms, etc) depending upon the areas of excess and what your goals may be. Most patients get an immense benefit with maximal liposuction of the abdomen, sides, and back to obtain the smallest waist possible and then maximal fat transfer to the buttocks and hips. The goal is to transfer fat from areas where you find it displeasing to areas in which you would like more volume. Three or more months after the BBL, you could have the TT.

Thank you for your question, based on your pictures you appear to be good candidate for full tummy tuck to remove the saggy skin excess and intense liposuction and my special technique the Dominican Butt lift. HiI think you will need the fat from the abdomen to harvest to get enough for a BBL - so i would do BBL first then tummy tuck second. The abdomen will look worse in between operations until the TT can be performed. in my practice you need at least 4 weeks between procedures.CheersDamien

based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a BBL. Liposuction of your abdomen, back and flanks should give you more curves and hourglass shape and fat transfer to buttocks should give you more projection. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon because only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Plastic surgeons differ on how these two procedures should be done when patients want both.

Some surgeons advocate for doing them together while others recommend doing them as separate procedures. When done as separate procedures there are likewise good arguments for doing the tummy tuck first or the BBL first.

Personally I think doing the tummy tuck as the primary or first procedure is a better option for a few reasons.

Intends to have the greatest impact and give the greatest improvement and for that reason it should be done first. Well done tummy tuck may give enough improvement that patients don’t really need further Liposuction or fat transfer. The second reason I prefer to do the tummy tuck first is that liposuction creates scar tissue underneath the skin and this limits the pliability of the skin and fat layer which can limit how much skin can be removed during the tummy tuck.

Plastic surgeons vary on their belief of how much impact scar tissue from liposuction impacts how a tummy tuck is performed or the results.

The only time I clearly recommend patients have a BBL before a tummy tuck is when they don’t have sufficient amount of fat for a proper fat transfer procedure. And that’s the case no fat should be removed with a previous skin tightening procedure such as a full tummy tuck.

The recovery from the tummy tuck is far more intense than the BBL. Some people want to tiptoe and start with a lesser procedure while others feel like they may as well get the hard part out of the way and move forward.

To me your abdomen does not require a vertical scar and that should not really be something you need.

In the end it’s probably more important choosing the most talented and experienced surgeon for each of the procedures rather than which procedure is done first.

I recommend patient focus all of their effort and simply finding the most talented and experienced provider for each and every surgical procedure.

Some plastic surgeons are better at certain procedures and it’s not unusual for patients to choose a different provider for the BBL then for the tummy tuck.

When two providers are involved there can be conflicting or consistent opinions about which procedure should come first.

To me the tummy tuck will have the greatest impact and should be the first procedure. You don’t have a shortage of fat and you are a great candidate for both procedures.

I’ve explained why and I think the tummy tuck should come first but in the end there are justified reasons for doing it the other way around.

Your best option is to focus your efforts in finding the most talented provider. Judge plastic surgeons for tummy tucks based on who gets the most natural looking belly buttons with a low set scar that follows an atomic contours naturally.

Personally I’m not a fan of doing these as combined procedures. I think there are a number of reasons why doing them a separate procedures is a better option but there are plenty of surgeons who prefer to do them together.

In the end choosing the best surgeon and following their recommendations is your best option.
