Will my eye get back to normal once the chalazion is removed or will I need ptosis surgery?

It is rare but possible to have permanent ptosis after a chalazion and after chalazion removal.  More often I have found the droopy lid was pre-existing and just noticed after the removal.  I would wait at least 6 months after all the swelling has resolved and if by that time the ptosis has not improved, consider repair by an oculoplastic surgeon.

No photograph is provided. Ptosis of the eyelids is caused by distortion of the levator muscle insertion into the tarsal plate. After 8 months it is entirely possible that this could be distorted on a permanent basis, although it should be much improved as the swelling abates and healing occurs. It is very likely there will be some minor eyelid asymmetry. Whether it is enough to warrant is unknown.
