I’m 32 and have the lines around my mouth. I’ve had filler injected in cheeks, marionette lines, and below the mouth. I haven’t seen much of a difference, but I’m open to try anything. I’ve asked before and a few responses I had asked for more photos. I’ll supply more on this post. I appreciate your feedback!

Answer: Lines around the mouth, what causes them and the treatment options Premature lines around the mouth are usually related to insufficient skeleton structure in the lower, 1/3 of the face. The lines develop as age creates a loss of elasticity in the skin. In other words, this happens on people who have a relatively small mandible. A facelift will not address this. Fillers may not be sufficient because they don’t address the primary problem. If anything fillers should be placed around the mandible not in the maxilla. It may still be difficult to correct this problem. It’s not an easy or straightforward condition to treat. I wish I could give you a straightforward answer but fillers in the hands of the right provider is probably the best approach. Minimize this getting worse by always wearing sunscreen and minimizing excessive facial sun exposure. You may find other plastic surgeons will see this as a soft tissue issue. While it may be to some degree I believe the primary or fundamental cause is skeletal. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
