I had my BA just over a month ago and now have been noticing mondor chords below my one of my breast and just under my rib bone on one side when I stretch out. I know this is normal post op but how long will they be there and should I be concerned if it stays around for much longer?

Answer: Mondor's Cords You are correct, from the pictures, these are most likely Mondor's Cords. They are caused by inflammation and subsequent clotting of the veins of the chest. These cords are most often found associated with an incision - although they can develop anywhere in the field of surgery. Treatment is conservative with warm compresses, massage, and NSAIDS such as Advil. For most patients they last a few months. Continued close follow-up with your surgeon is essential.

Answer: Mondor's cord Mondor's cord typically goes away within the first three months so don't worry. It's not permanent. However, make sure to let your surgeon know about it. My best, Dr. Sheila Nazarian @drsheilanazarian on Instagram
