I appreciate your question. The size of implant best for you is dictated by yourchest wall measurements. Once we determine that we can choose the profilebased on what you want or need to achieve. If you are seeking a natural look, then the diameter of the implant should be equal to or, more ideally, smallerthan the width of your breast. The breast width is a measurement of how wideyour breast is at the base, which should be measured at the level of thenipple. Choosing an implant that is smaller in diameter than your breast widthwill avoid the "side breast" fullness that is often associated with amore artificial appearance. Other than that, you should choose theimplant based on volume, not on the dimensions of the implant. You shouldchoose a board certified plastic surgeon that you trust to help guide you inthis decision. Silicone will give you a fullness at thetop (upper pole fullness).Silicone implants come pre-filled with asilicone gel and are the softest implant available. They feel more natural, which makes them a good option for women with less natural breast tissue; butthey require a larger incision. It may be more difficult to realize if thistype of implant has ruptured, so it is important to monitor them with annualfollow-up visits. Additionally, because this implant contains a more liquidsilicone (less cross-linked), if this implant should rupture, it will leak onlyinto the scar capsule formed around the implant but may cause some discomfortor implant distortion.Anatomic gummy bear implants might be agood choice to give you volume. These highly-sought-after, anatomicimplants offer a look that more closely resembles the natural silhouette of abreast, and, therefore, are a very attractive option for individuals seeking anatural-looking, aesthetic primary breast augmentation. Additionally, theseimplants are an especially excellent option for patients undergoing restorativeor corrective breast surgery because they provide more stability, shape, andreduced incidence of capsular contracture. Compared to other types of siliconegel implants, the silicone in the cohesive gel implant is more cross-linked;therefore, should the implant shell “rupture,” it maintains its shape andsilicone does not leak.During your breast augmentationconsultation, you should feel the different types of implants available, andtry on various implant sizers in front of a mirror to help you to get an ideaof how you will look following the surgery. You should also bring pictures ofthe look you would like to achieve, as well as a favorite top to wear whentrying on implant sizers. The best way to assess and give true advicewould be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plasticsurgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery.Best of luck!Dr. Schwartz
Choosing the right size implant depends on any number of factors all of which require an in person exam. If you trust your surgeon and you've tried out the 450cc and like the way they look then that's the right size for you. My best,Dr. Sheila Nazarian@drsheilanazarian on Instagram
The exact choice of size that will work best for you is an important decision that you should make with your board certified plastic surgeon. 3D Vectra imaging and simulation, the Mentor gel sizing system, rice filled implants at home in your bra, and bio-dimensional analysis are all methods that can be employed to help you come to a decision. Because size is such an important component of decision making in breast augmentation our office employs all of these techniques with each patient to ensure the highest rate of satisfaction possible. Good luck with your decision!
Hello newstart. Thank you so much for your question. A 450 cc breast implant is considered to be a big implant. The Mentor moderate profile implant at 445 cc measures 14.8 cm and it might be too wide for your measurements. Perhaps a narrower moderate + breast implant of similar or smaller size could be a consideration. A moderate + would be narrower than moderate and could fit your frame better. Speak with your plastic surgeon about all available options before proceeding. Best wishes always, Dr. Aldo
Your implant will be selected based upon your anatomy and your goals of surgery. 450 is a good size implant for the right patient. I like implants close to the based diameter. Best of luck.
Thank you for the question Ultimately, you will do well select your plastic surgeon carefully and communicating your goals, questions, and concerns. In other words, careful measurements, dimensional planning, and careful communication will be key.Generally speaking, patients undergoing this combination operation should understand that it is significantly more complex than breast augmentation surgery only and that it is associated with a significantly higher risk of complications and need for additional surgery. It will be important that you educate yourself regarding the pros/cons/risks/complications associated with breast augmentation/lifting surgery. Only after doing so can you make an informed decision whether or not to proceed. You will find a lot of information on this website and on the attached link. Also, generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation/lifting surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is:1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work. 2. Again, have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining which operation and/or breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or "C or D cup" etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. The use of computer imaging may be very helpful during this communication phase.3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery. The use of temporary intraoperative sizers with the patient in the upright position makes selection of the best breast implant size/profile relatively easy.I hope this, and the attached link, helps. Best wishes.
You will get the best answerto your question by scheduling an in person consultation with a plastic surgeoncertified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and discuss your uniquesituation and concerns. The surgeon would meet with you, examine you, physicallyfeeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medicalhistory, and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure in personand what to realistically expect. Then you can make an informed decision onsize and shape. Your surgeonshould be able to explain to you why they are recommending the size they areaccording to your current breast measurements including your chest width andyour desired outcome. We have all our Breast Augmentation patients notonly utilize our 3D imaging so they can get a real visual on what the implantswill look like on them but also to actually try on the different size implantswith a tight bra and t-shirt to see what they might expect. That way they havea good visual of what a 450cc implant will do as opposed to a 350cc implant forexample. You want to make sure that you see a surgeon that will listen to youand your goals for the procedure and discuss in detail their recommendation forsize and shape not only taking into consideration your desired outcome but alsoyour breast measurements before the procedure including your chest dimensions. And then let you try the implants that they feel will give you the desiredresult so you are in agreement with the size.
I consider a 450cc implant large especially when combined with abreast lift. My concern is that a larger implant will put oressure on the lifted nipple and breast and could decrease blood flow and result is healing difficulty. If your breast base width is 14 theoretically the breast can accomodate 450cc but I would be concerned when combining with a lift.
It is quite common for each breast to heal/drop at a different rate. And 3 weeks post op is still really early in your recovery. For now, be patient and let your body recover. At 6 months, if you are still unhappy, speak with your surgeon about revision options. My best,Dr. Sheila...
Thank you for your question. Constipation can occur following surgery due to anesthesia and post operative pain medication. I recommend over the counter Miralax or milk of magnesia.
The difference between the two implant sizes is nominal. My best advise would be for you to try them both out and see which one looks better. My best, Dr. Sheila Nazarian @drsheilanazarian on Instagram
