Is there any real difference between 320 and 350 CCs?

Question

I had my consultation with my PS and was stuck between 320 and 350 CCs. I really want them to look natural & proportional to my figure, rather than wanting to have huge boobs (Full B is the goal). I did like the 350 I think I'm just so hesitant because I've never had boobs, so everything looks big to me. Also, I understand the procedure but to decrease the chance of rippling (I'd be getting saline unders), would the PS overfill a 300 CC implant? How does the overfilling process work?

It is very difficult for the patient to tell the difference in this low a volume difference. It will definitely make a difference 'on the table' but it may be hard for you to detect.

There is minimal noticeable difference + or - 30 ccs.   It is certainly very normal for patients to be concerned about choosing the correct size,  generally speaking in my experience if there is a post op discussion about size more patients wish they'd gone a little larger as opposed to smaller.    We have "sizers"  in the office for  patients to "try on"  with different shirts this can be very helpful.  Yes I would expect your surgeon to overfill saline implants,  if yourconcerned about rippling you may want to consider cohesive gel implants.      Discuss your concerns with your PS you want to beconfident with your choices prior to surgery.    Good Luck

Short answer 30 cc. In reality very little difference. Since the difference is slight, lean towards the larger so afterwards, you don't beat yourself up for not going just a bit bigger. Also lean on the advice from your surgeon. Good luck!

Breast augmentation is often performed to increase the size of the breast for aesthetic reasons. Most patients are like yourself and looking to obtain a natural looking breast that is proportional to their body. As you consider a size, the difference between 320 ML and 350 ML would likely be undetectable to most people. It equates to about 2 tablespoons. That being said, when deciding between two similar sizes that are both reasonable, I council patients to choose the larger size.Overfilling is the process of filling a saline implant beyond its rated volume (i.e. filling a 300 ML implant to 330 ML). A saline implant is akin to a ziplock bag filled with water. As the bag sits in the breast, there is more water in the bottom of the bag and less water on the top. This can lead to wrinkling of the top of the implant shell. As you stuff more water in the bag, water is forced into the upper part of the bag - filling out the top and possibly decreasing the wrinkles in the shell. The implants, however, are optimized to be filled with their rated volume and so the advantage of overfilling is not clear-cut.

30 cc's is not a big difference in volume and if you look a the profiles of similar profile implants, the changes are not big.

I recommend that my patients go ahead with the larger of the two sizes. This advice has proven to be reliable for both my patients and I. Best of luck.

30cc's, the difference between 320 and 350 is a real but small difference. Often a patient will not be able to tell the difference between two sizes that are so close. It is not uncommon for breast augmentation patients to wish they had gone bigger following their surgery. If a patient is stuck between deciding on two sizes, I ask them to carefully consider the larger size with that knowledge in mind. If they want to look the most natural, I usually advise that they choose the smaller of the two sizes. See your plastic surgeon they should be able to help you sort this out.

Thank you for your question.Simply answered it is unlikely for you to notice any difference if the implants only differ in volume.  More important than the volume is the width, projection, and what fills the implant and selecting the implant that matches your frame.A well trained board certified plastic surgeon will be able to explain the components of base width, height, projection, volume, and silicone/saline to help select the "right" implant for your goals.Best Dr. L
