At 18 at least in the United States, you are a legal adult and can make your own medical decisions. There is no right or wrong age for having Liposuction, but generally speaking younger individuals are better candidates for quality liposuction results than older individuals. Having tight skin with excess subcutaneous fat in undesirable areas is in a sense, the hallmark of Liposuction and the candidacy. Without including pictures, we can’t begin to make an assessment and without an assessment, we can’t recommend a procedure. You may or may not be a good candidate for Liposuction. Delivering consistent quality, liposuction, results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons have mastered this procedure are in a small minority. There are a substantial number plastic surgeons with years of experience, board certification, and overall good reviews for simply not good at liposuction, and patients need to be very careful when choosing providers. If there’s one single important message to get across, it is the importance of provider selection, and never making assumptions when it comes to permanent irreversible body contouring procedures that can potentially leave people disfigured for life. To get a quality assessment, better understanding of what the procedure can, and cannot accomplish and begin the process of finding the right provider I suggest having multiple in person, consultations with plastic surgeons in your community who seem to do a lot of Liposuction. It’s not a bad idea to have pictures of your body to bring with you for reference during a consultation. We don’t always remember exactly what our body looks like especially when reviewing before and after pictures. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients, who had similar body characteristics to your own. When it comes to common procedures, like Liposuction and experience provider, should have no difficulty showing you the before, and after pictures of at least 15 previous patients. Take careful notes during each consultation, especially regarding the quantity and quality of before and after pictures. Ideally, you should be shown what looks like an endless collection of results of patients who look just like you do. Being shown a handful of pre-selected images, representing the best results of a providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of that provider, or what the result of someone with your candidacy is likely to look like. There’s no correct number of consultations needed to find the right provider. Considering how much variation there is an Liposuction, skill and experience among plastic surgeons, I recommend having at least five consultations before considering scheduling a permanent, irreversible body contouring procedure. When in doubt, slow down and schedule more consultations. If obesity is your primary problem, then Liposuction is not really the right way to go. Liposuction is not going to permanently remove fat related to over eating. Patient who cannot mastered that they’re eating habits are probably not ideal candidate for Liposuction. Don’t think I’m Liposuction is something that will kickstart motivation for weight loss. It is in fact the other way around. Liposuction that should be the reward for having done the work of losing the weight on your own first. Individuals with significant obesity may develop skin laxity after successful weight loss. Skin laxity can be seen in some individuals with as little as 30 pounds of weight loss. Skin laxity is one of the major reasons patients fail to be a good candidate for Liposuction and the quality of someone’s skin, whether it’s due to laxity due to wait fluctuations, or elasticitie issues due to age it needs to be considered, because the skin quality as a major impact on the type of results someone could expect from the procedure.
