Waxing after IPL: I still have 3 - 4 thick hairs on my underarm.

I am not sure if it is a typo or you have had 17 laser hair removal treatments on your underarms.  Depending on the machine, patient's tolerance, and hair you should only need 5-7 treatments with a once or twice yearly maintenance.  I believe if you have gone 17 times and they are telling you to wax between treatments, you should find another provider.  Waxing between treatments is completely counterproductive because it removes the hair follicle and without the hair follicle the machine cannot kill the follicle. I would highly suggest a second opinion somewhere else.

Thank you for your question. Most patients require 6-8 treatments for laser hair removal. Occasionally a patient may need more treatments due to hormonal issues. Based on the number of unsuccessful treatments you have had, I would recommend seeing a qualified laser provider to get a second opinion. Hope this information helps you.

Thank you for your question.  You may have probably been getting ineffective treatments.  This could be due to poor settings, calibration of the laser or technique of the clinician.  We utilize a Vectus diode laser to safely and effectively treat all skin types.  Our LHR patients typically need only 6 treatments.  We recommend finding an experienced and reputable provider in your area with updated equipment.  Calibration and power of the laser is important for a safe, comfortable and effective treatment.  Find out if their laser is under a maintenance contract.  If their laser isn’t calibrated on a regular basis or is underpowered, your treatment may be painful or inefficient.
