Do my breasts look normal for 9 weeks post-op? (photos)

Question

I feel like my breasts are still sitting too high/still look quite odd and are quite firm at the top. I have no pain or discomfort. Is this normal at 9 weeks post-op or am I displaying signs of capsular contracture? Thank you.

9 weeks out from a breast augmentation your breast can still be high especially if you had large implants and smaller breast as it takes time to drop in these situations and more massage fir my patients to help stretch out the muscle and skin. It does not appear to be capsular contraction which would be hard to determine in an early post op photo and on exam.

At nine weeks after breast augmentation you are very early to be worried.  The implants will drop over the next 6 months,  They look fine for this time period.  Most likely, it is not capsular contracture this early after surgery.

I don't see a real problem with the breasts. In nine weeks there may be some artificial support of the volume of the implant due to swelling. Capsular contracture does not occur at nine weeks.

it is still too early. give it time.  they look like fairly large inplants and they will continue to drop for up to 6 months.  particularly with large implants

Based upon the photos you have provided, your implants do appear to be riding high. This is commonly seen, and usually by 3 months this has resolved completely. Definitely meet with your plastic surgeon to be evaluated, and he/she should be able to reassure you. Thanks for sharing!

For the average patient it does take approximately 3 months for the breast to 'settle'.  What this means is that they drop slightly, are less full at the top and 'belly out'. They also feel softer to the touch as the swelling in the tissue decreases. This takes time and patience on your part. At three months post op, it is a good time to see your surgeon. This way you can be examined for signs of capsular contracture. This is also the perfect time to communicate and discuss your concerns if they are still present.Once again, be patient with your healing process. I hope this is helpful.

Keep in mind, that your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource, given that he/she knows exactly what  procedure you have performed ( details such as size/profile of breast implants are important here) and how you have been progressing over time. Otherwise, online consultants can only provide you with an  assessment based on the  photographs, which appear to be “normal” to me. These implants do appear to be "high riding" and this is quite common with under the muscle implants at this stage. In most patients the implants will have settled by three months, though in some it can take longer. We all have many patients with nice results who still looked high this early.Best wishes.

Thank you for your question and photo.  Considering the fact that you have quite large breast implants I am not surprised that they are still writing a bit high at 9 weeks.Ask your plastic surgeon if you may do breast implant displacement exercises and whether a superior pole wrap might be of help at this stage.I would not be concerned about capsular contracture at this early stage.I think it's a combination of the size of your implants and the ability of your tissues to stretch and accommodate the implants.I predict that your implants will continue to drop and ultimately you will be happy.
