The evidence so far is that Sculptra should not have any effect on pregnancy. Sculptra is based off of a natural substance and stays localized after injection. The consensus recommendation is to not have injections during pregnancy or during breast feeding.
Some types of medicines have not been properly evaluated for safety during pregnancy. It would be unfair for anyone to comment on this as there are no studies that document the safety either way. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
Even tough, we don't recommend to get injections during your pregnancy, but you should not be too worries. The product injected in the face does not migrate to other part of the body let alone to the embryo. The product has to become blood born (get into your blood stream) for it to get to the baby. And many injectors are very careful not to inject near or in the artery or vein.
The short answer is likely no. Although cosmetic procedures are never studied in women who are pregnant or planning to become due to FDA regulations, the fact is many have been in a similar situation as you, and there is rarely any effect that can be linked to the cosmetic procedure were a complication to occur. I'm sure everything will be fine, congratulations!!Best, Dr. Emer.
While there have not been studies examining the use of Sculptra in pregnant women, there should be no harm to your baby by having the Sculptra treatment done when you were 2 weeks pregnant. The Sculptra does not circulate throughout your body but just stays in the area where it was injected. You should hold off on further treatments until after your pregnancy and after breast feeding has stopped.
This is an issue that is more prevalent than we probably think. We ask if people are pregnant but don't know for sure prior to Sculptra. There obviously have not been any studies done on pregnant people and Sculptra, but since it is a naturally occurring sugar in the body, I would be very comfortable that there is no risk to the baby.
There is no way that Sculptra could possibly hurt a brand-new, developing baby just weeks into a pregnancy. As the other doctors mentioned, additional injections should be avoided just out of an abundance of precaution. Let's hope everything goes smoothly and you have a fantastic child. If any bumps in the road occur, it won't be because of the Sculptra.
Dear Rebman:Sculptra is a cellular stimulant of collagen and other molecules to the skin where it is typically placed under. It is know to produce local and not distant effects. The pregnant mother's body is very protective of the baby but there are no studies of the effect of Sculptra on the baby's formation. For this reason, it is not recommended during pregnancy or breast feeding yet I am unaware of any fetal concerns during Sculptra's use. I believe this is something for you to explore with your obstetrician. I am sorry I cannot be more definitive nor helpful. I certainly wish you the best!
Because Sculptra is a stimulating agent, it normally does take a series of treatments to obtain the best result. Without seeing you or pictures of you before your treatments, it is difficult to know if you might have been a good candidate for Sculptra or not. For patients that do not...
Sculptra is an excellent stimulatory filler and it is hard to assess how much your face will improve without photographs. Maintain a positive approach and continue to massage the Sculptra. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles
A blunt cannula can come in different sizes. The most important criteria for success include the placement of the Sculptra, the areas injected, your candidacy, the dilution of the Sculptra, and aftercare. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
Lymph nodes can flare up because of a number of conditions. Speak to your injector and discuss the need for immediate antibiotics or observation. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
Airenyc thank you for the pictures. I am very sorry to learn of your experience with sculptra. Why would you consider silicone that has not been approved as a facial filler by the FDA ? My favorite filler to help improve your facial contours is artefill. It is...
By adding Sculptra, a collagen stimulating product along the cheek bone, upper anterior and lateral cheek and temples, we can lift the collection of tissue that accumulates along the jawbone (jowl) and redistribute that volume back and up where it once was. This will have a direct effect...
