If the obgyn and plastic surgeon are able to cooperate, is this a possibility? My husband and I have decided that we do not want more kids, and I've wanted a BA for over 10 years. Our health insurance will cover the sterilization thanks to the ACA but we still have to pay out of pocket for the facility fee. If we combine the surgeries together then we would only have to pay one facility fee rather than two separate ones. How would Insurance handle that? Thanks in advance!

Answer: Is it possible to have a tubal ligation and breast augmentation done at the same time? Thank you for your question and I can appreciate your desire to have a single operation with both procedures performed at the same time. It does result in some cost savings as well as only one recovery. The two procedures can be performed together but it will require coordination by a willing ob/gyn and plastic surgeon to do so. Hope that this helps.

Answer: Possible to combine the procedures? The answer to this is somewhat complicated and involves a lot of variables. I would suggest you start with your OB/GYN and ask him or her if there are any plastic surgeons he or she has worked with in the past and who has privileges to perform breast augmentation at the facility where you plan to have your TL. However, keep in mind that most facility fees are based on time, so if the plastic surgeon is slow to perform the BA, it could end up costing more than performing the BA in an office-based OR. You will need to get a referral from your OB/GYN then discuss the possibility of combining the surgery with the plastic surgeon. Insurance will not pay for any part of the augmentation as it will be considered cosmetic. Best of luck!
