My filler in tear trough last for only two months! What can I do about that?

Volbella is a nice filler. In my opinion, based on the description of the depth of your tear trough you needed a different filler, and one with a higher g prime, for a better lift of the deep tear trough. Consider Restylane next time. You should also think about getting a full correction. Lack of a full correction is the number one cause of dissatisfaction with this area. Best wishes, Dr. Aldo

It is better to under-inject this area than to overfill, because the skin is very delicate here consider having your surgeon re-inject the area with a larger volume, and understand that in some cases eyelid swelling/bags may require surgery to remove excessive fat/ski and in some cases laser resurfacing for skin tightening to have a durable, long lasting result for eye rejuvenation. Tear troughs can be addressed with HA fillers using a layering technique I discuss in the attached video.   The procedure is relatively simple and short and the results should last for at least a year.   But,  we do recommend that you get a maintenance re-treatment session   usually half or a third of the dose at about 5-6 months to maintain your results.  Hope all goes well.

Although I like to use volbella in the tear troughs for some younger patients, and patients in need of less correction, it is not my first pick for patients that have a deeper groove, or require more volume. Restylane is my preferred product of choice when I do not use volbella because it has a different g prime that provides more correction to the area. Restylane is also a full 1cc, whereas volbella is roughly half that size. It is my opinion that you probably need additional product as the product dissolving in two months is highly unlikely. If it at two months it does not look improved significantly, perhaps what you are seeing now is what is left after the swelling subsided. Perhaps you just need more filler?

The only permanent solution to your problem is surgery so see a board certified plastic surgeon or oculoplastic surgeon

The lower lid tear trough can be addressed by filling the trough with fillers or filling the trough with fat. Fat can be repositioned during blepharoplasty surgery. This is a permanent solution. It may be worthwhile discussing your undereyes with a facial plastic or oculoplastic surgeon to get a different, lasting perspective. Best of luck!

Thank you for your question.  The eyelids are a very delicate area and thus only soft fillers may be used underneath the lower eyelids.  These fillers tend to last only about three months so your experience is expected.  There really is no other filler option that will last longer.  Permanent correction can be obtained with a procedure Arcus marginalis release with fat grafting.  To learn more please read below:
