CoolSculpting is a very effective procedure for treating small pockets of fat. It is not, however, a weight loss procedure, and is generally not used to address larger amounts of fat accumulation. Further, CoolSculpting is not recommended for people who have a BMI greater than 40. Therefore, the best candidates for CoolSculpting are those who have maintained a healthy, steady weight for several months but have a few small problem spots they'd like treated without surgery.
CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss technique and wouldn’t have any real benefits for you if you are 100 pounds overweight. CoolSculpting is highly effective at eliminating small pockets of fat that don’t respond to diet and exercise. But the only thing that will remove a significant amount of fat is a healthy weight-loss program that emphasizes nutrient-rich foods and varied exercise. Once you lose most of the excess weight and are ready for CoolSculpting, be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who has been certified by Zeltiq as an expert.
Thank you for your question. Coolsculpting is designed to target relatively small discrete areas of fat that a patient is having difficulty to lose. It unfortunately is not a treatment for weight loss. Therefore, it is not recommended for patients that have a significant amount of excess weight. Sincerely,Olga Bachilo, MD
You need to lose weight first before undergoing any cosmetic procedure to get the best outcome. For best results, it is recommended to be at your ideal or stable weight before getting Coolsculpting. Coolsculpting is not a weight loss procedures, rather it is for removing problem areas that cannot be removed with weight loss and diet / exercise alone. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a bariatric doctor or dietitian. Best, Dr. Emer
CS is a non invasive technology that through a series of treatments can improve body contouring. Like all fat reduction treatments, the quality of the result depends on the underlying musculoskeletal build and the ability of the skin to retract. Given your weight, it is hard to imagine that coolsculpting treatment would be worthwhile. It is not a weight loss device. Candidly, as difficult as it may be to hear, you don't need CoolSculpting. For your health and well being, you need weight loss. But don't try to do it alone. Rather than investing in CoolSculpting, consider medically assisted weight loss, a personal trainer, or a dietician. Best of luck.
Hello Sandycliff,Yes, CoolSculpting can be done if you're morbidly obese, but its not a good idea. You need to lose a significant amount of weight before the expense of CoolSculpting would be worthwhile since you would need many sessions which would make it cost-prohibitive. You may be a candidate for submental (chin) CoolSculpting to see some actual benefit after just 2 sessions.Best of luck,Oscar A. Aguirre, MDUrogynecologist & Cosmetic Surgeon
Please keep in mind that CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment. It is designed to literally sculpt away the stubborn pockets of fat that some people have who are already eating a healthy diet and are exercising. CoolSculpting is designed for those who are within 10-20 pounds of their goal weight. Now, this being said, there can be benefits for those who are quite a bit overweight. Some clients simply would like to reduce the size of the bulges and rolls of fat on their body. This can be achieved with CoolSculpting. It will most likely take several treatment to get there, but it can be done. We have helped many patients who are quite overweight achieve a smoother more pleasing overall shape. Obviously, we would recommend diet and exercise, but, sometimes it is just nice when clothes fit better. Good luck with everything.
CoolSculpting can be done if you are 100 pounds overweight, however, you will not see the results you want to see. I do not recommend CoolSculpting to patients who have a BMI that is higher than 30. CoolSculpting is great for patients that have lost the weight, but still have those areas that are stubborn. I would recommend a healthy weightless program and then once you get to your goal weight, use CoolSculpting to get rid of the stubborn areas that you need a little extra help.
Yes, CoolSculpting can be done if you are 100lbs overweight, however you may not obtain ideal results. Each Coolsculpting treatment destroys approx. 20%-25% of fat in the targeted area. It would take alot of treatments to make a significant improvement, which would be costly and time consuming. The treatment should not be done for weight loss purposes, rather for addressing stubborn fat resistant to diet and exercise. I would recommend a consultation to be properly evaluated so you have a better understanding of what can and cannot be achieved with CoolSculpting. For some people, just having some improvement is enough to have it done. Best of luck!
While the treatment can be performed for patients who have a BMI of 30 or more, patients who have a BMI of 30 or below will fare better.
