I am an 84 year old man with a large lipoma on my lower back, right side. It is about 5 inches in diameter, and is beginning to cause a little pain. I am in good health, with a blood clotting disfunction since birth, Am I a candidate for Coolsclpting to remove the lipona
Answer: 85 year old with lipoma and blood clotting disorder; coolsculpting? I would not recommend coolsculpting for the mass. Surgical excision would be preferable and more appropriate. You don't mention the nature of your blood clotting disorder but a hematologist consultation would be appropriate prior to surgery. Liposuction is also an option but the blood clotting order should still be addressed pre operatively. Also it is important to consider imagining studies for a large mass and not assume it is a lipoma, depending on physical exam. Good luck!

Answer: It is not clear what lipomas or cysts will do in the face of coolsculpting. Thank you for your question.Lipomas are solid fatty tumors and can not "burst" or be "squeezed out." Lipomas can increase and decrease in size but this is typically relatively slow and not rapid. It is not clear what lipomas or cysts will do in the face of coolsculpting. It is probably not dangerous to do, but i would doubt that these would reduce in size with treatment. Best of luck!
