Breast augmentation could increase the cleavage of the breast depending on the type of implant used.Silicone filled breast implants give more cleavage to the breast than saline filled breast implantsA round high profile silicone implant gives more cleavage that a shaped silicone implant.Wearing a padded bra or a push-up sports bra after a breast augmentation very unlikely help to heal with a "permanent cleavage" since the bra doesn't affect the affect the shape of the breast implant or the shape the implant gives to the breast tissue.
Hi Karissa,Thanks for your question and photos. Weknow that it takes time for the implants to settle and be in the position that they were placed during surgery. Implants that are placed under the muscle tendto live in higher breast pocket position than those over the muscle. Support bras help to keep the implants in the position that they were placed during surgery. They usually don't improve with bras but it certainly doesn't hurt. Remember that clevage is based on how much muscle your have and how wide your breast bone(sternum) is and wether the implants were placed over or under the muscle.I recommend being seen by your surgeon and follow their recommendations. Good LuckAll the best,Carlos Mata MD, MBA, FACS
Hello,Bras and straps do very little in modulating the result, certainly with regards to implant positioning towards the midline or higher on the chest wall. A push up bra will not make a difference. Wearing a supportive or compressive bra is all you need to support, isolate implant motion, and allow quick healing. Best of luck!
I would not recommend wearing a padded or push up bra so soon after breast augmentation. Your breasts need to heal properly and you will only cause undo irritation from underwire on the breasts.
Most surgeons will recommend wearing some type of garment following breast augmentation, although the type of garment, the duration, and the instructions may vary from surgeon to surgeon. Typically, the thought behind wearing a good supportive bra following breast augmentation is that it will help to support and hold the implants in position while the capsule is forming around the implant. This usually takes 4 to 6 weeks. The garment will help to ensure that the implants stay in position, but will not otherwise affect the final outcome. They won't generate more cleavage than you started with after surgery. It takes approximately three months for implants to fully settle - during this time your swelling will recede, the position of the implants will relax and settle, and your scars will heal. If you have concerns about your early results, I recommend you discuss this with your surgeon. Often you can be reassured with a simple discussion about what to expect with your healing. Good luck!
Hello and thank you for your question. Every surgeon has different protocols for wearing or not wearing bras post-operatively. Do not deviate from your surgeon's post-op instructions. With respect to cleavage, my advice to you is to hang in there, as your breasts will look even better, but you need to be patient as your implants settle. Right now they are squished by the activation of your pectoralis major muscle and tissue swelling due to the inflammatory response after surgery. Once they are in their final position and the lower pole of your breasts are not as tight, your breasts will appear even larger and rounder; usually this process occurs as the pectoralis major muscle relaxes and the implants are no longer squeezed upward, and settle into their ideal position. This process usually takes 1-3 months, but can take up to 6 months. Remember that each side may heal and drop and fluff at a different rate. Also, make sure to relay your concerns to your plastic surgeon as most value the patient-doctor relationship and want to be first in line to help their patients. If after 3 months you are still unhappy, you can consider seeking revision with a board certified plastic surgeon with expertise in revision breast surgery. I hope this helps!Sincerely,Dr. Sean Kelishadi
Thank you for your question.Best would be to check with your surgeon as surgeons have different protocols for their post-op.Generally speaking would not recommend a push-up bra after anchor lift. Over-all bras dont have a role (or they "shouldn't!") in providing a permeant cleavage. Would be the actual procedure which will determine the results. All the best,
There is no evidence that antibiotics are needed beyond 24 hours after surgery if they were given at the start of surgery and the procedure was done in a sterile way and without drains. Discuss your concerns with your surgeon as the risk of a C Diff infection is real.
It sounds as though you had a vasovagal response which can be triggered by heat, stress, or standing for long periods of time. The best advice to give you is to follow up with your surgeon and communicate the occurrence directly to him for evaluation and expert advice moving...
Is it safe to take Advil following breast augmentation surgery? Thanks so much for your question. That’s actually a great question. I think anti-inflammatories can be a very powerful way to help treat pain. They also have none of the side effects that opioid medications carry including cons...
