Thank you for your question and I would recommend always clearing any new medication use with your surgeon, but at two weeks it should be safe for you to take Advil. Some surgeons avoid ibuprofen in the first weeks after surgery as the associated risk of bleeding is slightly elevated with its use. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your question. I strongly advice my patients to stay away from all blood-thinners (all aspirin containing products) 2 weeks prior and 4 weeks after. However, you are fine to take Tylenol before and after.
Hi... thank you for the question, In my practice the Ibuprofen is used 3-5 days after a surgery. You should contact your PS.
Some OTC pain killers like advil, motrin ( ibuprofen) may cause bleeding if taken before surgery or shortly after. In my practice, my patients are allowed to take ibuprofen like pain killers after 48 hours post breast augmentation).Patients who recently underwent breast augmentation should ask their plastic surgeons when it is ok to take advil like pain killers.
Is it safe to take Advil following breast augmentation surgery? Thanks so much for your question. That’s actually a great question. I think anti-inflammatories can be a very powerful way to help treat pain. They also have none of the side effects that opioid medications carry including constipation and nausea. I typically tell my patients within the first few days that I like them to use anti-inflammatories and back off of opioid pain medicine. Certainly by two weeks it would be safe. Consult your surgeon as well to get their specific opinion.
In general, it is safe to take Advil after a breast augmentation. In fact, the Advil may allow you to use minimal or no narcotic pain medicine. Check with your plastic surgeon to be sure that your health history has no contra-indications for the medication.
I have allowed my patients to use Ibuprofen starting immediately after surgery for many years without any increase in bleeding/bruising. This is unless there was unusual bleeding at surgery, Your surgeon is the best source for an answer to this for you.
Each surgeon is a bit different when it comes to NSAID usage. At two weeks it is probably ok, but you should check with your surgeon.
The use of Ibuprofen is indicated after surgeries as a medicine for pain and inflammation. There`s No contraindication of this drug unless the patient is allergic to this group of painkillers.
In my practice it is usually safe to take ibuprofen 2 weeks after breast augmentation. I would recommend discussion with your surgeon prior to making any changes. Good luck
