I've had three rounds of the dissolving agent and my lips are not quite back to baseline yet after two years. They don't look bad but would like to have them back to my "virgin" lip border. I was told by my plastic surgeon that juvederm is temporary and ALL results would revert back to baseline. Then my dermatologist says that you always have collagen formation (scar tissue) as a result of filler placed in the border. I want my lips back My friend has the same exact problem. What can I do? Wait?

Answer: Juvederm HI and thanks for your question. Most often, the HA fillers such as juvederm, dissolve over about 6-9 months and that there is no long lasting effects. It is my experience, however, that sometimes filler injections in the vermilion border subtly alter the border sometimes and that it may never be completely "virgin"again. After 2 years, I would expect the juvederm to be dissolved. It may be best to see a Board Certified Dermatologist in your area that is an expert in lip fillers to see if there is something that can be done to correct your issue. I hope this helps, Dr. Quenby Erickson, DO, FAAD, FACMS

Answer: Lip Fillers and Dissolving The results of the lip filler should indeed be temporary and once you have them dissolved it should return to baseline. If you are having problems still you should post your before and after photos for the physicians to take a look to help you. Best, Dr. Green
