Hello! I have a quick question. I had under chin liposuction for my double chin two months ago and I would like to tighten the skin underneath my chin a little bit more. I wanted to do Inmode or Shurink lazer for this. Is it too soon after the liposuction to do a skin tightening laser or is it OK? Thank you!

Answer: Skin tightening There are basically three options for non-surgical skin tightening attempts. In conjunction with Liposuction surgeons can use facetite or renuvion a.k.a. J plasma. These treatments are better done at the same time as Liposuction because the device needs the fat to be broken up which liposuction does to prepare for those two devices. The second option is external Radio frequency treatments and the last is ablative of skin treatments(CO2 laser or external use of Renuvion potentially aggressive laser peel) which are high risk on the neck. The majority of people who seek chin and neck Liposuction have a facial skeletal imbalance with a mandible that is small in comparison to the Maxilla. It usually also presents with a dental overbite occlusion and I’m profile pictures most of these individuals will have an upper lip that has more forward projection in the lower lip. this facial skeletal in balance typically forms premature double chin, lack of John line definition and premature jowls. In the end laxcity the lower one third of the face depending on age is probably best treated with a facelift. For those with significant skeletal and balance and dressing the primary problem also gives good results since the primary problem is being addressed. Soft tissue coverage of the face and neck tends to be very predictable and those who form a premature double chin typically don’t have more fat in that area than their counterparts. That said, well done Liposuction in that area can deliver spectacular results on individuals who are good candidates(Young pudgy individuals) and if done by a sufficiently skilled provider. Keep your expectations low for non-surgical skin tightening options. They typically tend to under Deliver. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
