I play fastpitch softball, and I am a catcher so I get beat up quite a bit due to blocking, and I'm also required to dive quite a bit for foul balls or when I'm running bases. I'm interested in getting a breast augmentation and looking to go to a full C since I'm around a B. Would I still be able to play softball as rigorously as I do now after a boob job, or would it be too risky? If not, which implant option would be best for me?
Answer: Can I play competitive softball after having a breast augmentation? You can absolutely return to playing competitive softball after breast augmentation surgery. I have triple crown body builders in my practice who return to light weightlifting at around the 6th week after surgery and gradually return to their preoperative full lifting weight about two weeks after that. I also have patients after three months who return to activities like sky diving, kickboxing, and scuba diving. I hope this information is reassuring. Play ball! Answer: Softball Yes, you can, however, I would wait several weeks prior to resuming play. I recommend an in-office examination as well as a detailed discussion with a surgeon who you are comfortable with. Finally, make sure your surgeon is a Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).Best,Dr. DesaiBeverly Hills Institute for Aesthetic Plastic SurgeryHarvard Educated, Beverly Hills & Miami Beach Trained, Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Postop breast augmentation activity Competitive sports can be tough on implants. Periareola approach with saline through a tiny 1.6cm incision would be your best bet, Also waiting 6 weeks before playing again after surgery. Good luck...

Answer: Can I play competitive softball after having a breast augmentation? Yes... Thank you for the question. Long-term patients who undergo breast augmentation surgery (barring any complications) should be able to return to all activities with full strength. Timing to return to specific types of exercise will vary from one patient to another. Best to check with your plastic surgeon for specific advice. Generally, I suggest patients gradually ease back into the strenuous aerobic exercise 4 to 6 weeks postoperatively, assuming that they are doing well and there have been no complications. Lower body exercise can generally be resumed 2 weeks postoperatively. Use common sense, listen to your body, and gradually resume previous activity. In my practice, I ask patients to avoid contact and strenuous exercise involving the pectoralis major muscles ( such as push-ups, bench press, burpees, dancing on a pole…) for at least 3-6 months. Best wishes.
