Would collagen stimulation from a dermapen be enough to camouflage a dorsal hump the same way fillers would?

In general, if somebody's nasal profile hump is very large, rhinoplasty surgery may be indicated. If the hump is small, injectable fillers may be considered. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Thanks for your question. The collagen induction from a dermapen is microscopic. The induction of collagen will not be significant enough to fill a dorsal hump.  You may swell initially an it could help for a few days, but it wont be a lasting result.  On the other hand, fillers are macroscopic. The filler is placed beneath the dermis. The two treatments are totally different.  Best of luck from NYC!

Hello - this is a great question. Fillers are really useful for camouflaging irregularities on the nose, like dorsal humps. Micro-needling is helpful for stimulating smoother, clearer skin and can help stimulate new collagen formation in the skin only. The amount of collagen that is created however comes nowhere near to the amount of volume of filler that is placed during non-surgical rhinoplasty injection. Micro-needling is great for skin care, while fillers and surgery are excellent for underlying structural changes. Hope that helps
