What can I do about the filler in my nose glowing red in the sun? (photos)

Question

I had a non surgical nose job 1 month ago and now in the sun or light my nose glows red. Concealer does not suitably cover it. My doctor said that this is a result of thin skin on the nose and a lot of filler under the skin. He told me it is best to leave it alone and that it will fade away with time. I really hate how it looks when the light shines on it. Do you think I should wait and it will fade (and how long should I expect this to take?) or I should look to get some of the filler dissolved?

Hyaluronic acid is a translucent gel.  When a lot is placed under thin skin, it can appear translucent like what we see on your photos.  If you like the shape of your nose, you can try to see if BB cream/ foundation can do a better job covering it.  If you really can’t stand the look of it, then dissolving it would be a good option.  You may then consider trying a different filler that isn’t HA based, or surgical rhinoplasty. Good luck!Goretti H. If you have very thin skin, it is conceivable that any filler could show the color of red blood when light is shined. If the overall contour of your nose is improved, consider a bit of makeup. I hope this is helpful for you. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Many thanks of your question and pictures. HA filler allows light to shine through it so if you have had a good quantity injected under thin skin then this can occur. I would suggest that you apply a sunscreen with some primer/tint within it that will help to block the passage of light and thus the red glow. Should this not work sufficiently well for you then your only option is to have the HA dissolved.
