Can sexual foreplay cause complications after breast implants?

Also, if a woman has silicone implants done on herself, and let’s say right after the procedure let’s say my significant other (boyfriend) plays with my breasts during sexual foreplay could the implants become a little deflated, or cause rupture or some sort of damage after the surgery, or even a couple days after the surgery?

I was entertained reading the answers below.  Here's the bottom line: in the studies that have produced the lowest hematoma and capsular contracture rates, patients were told they could have sex the night of surgery. I've allowed patients to have sex the night of breast augmentation for years and there has never been an association between it and  bleeding, and tabulated contracture rates rival the best reported data in the literature.Still, listen to what your surgeon said.  Never follow the advice of a friend or another doctor.  Always do what your doctor told you to do.

you are good for the moment but continued manipulation during foreplay can result in injury if vigorous.  It will not cause deflation but if you appreciate a change in your breast appearances following such activities, you can be assured that there was a cause effect relationship there.  Try to refrain until you are cleared by your surgeon.

Hi Kelly.001,Thanks for your questions.  Don't worry!  You likely did not damage anything at all.  Being a bit sore after physical activity of any sort after breast augmentation is not unusual at all.  For a general timeline of when you can return to normal activity safely, I typically allow my breast augmentation patients to begin light, lower body exercise at 2 weeks after their procedure and then begin to add upper body exercises to their work out a week after that.  If you continue to have concerns, please call and follow up with your plastic surgeon for an exam.  Most likely this is just completely normal soreness after your breast augmentation.Best wishes during your continued recovery!

You don't want to stimulate your nipples following breast augmentation as this may cause bacteria in the ducts(propinobacter and staph epidermidis) to get out and potentially infection/colonize your implants; this is much like not brushing your teeth right after getting a chin implant as the bacterial around your teeth might get activated and migrate to your chin implant.

I advise my patients to protect their new breasts from any mechanical trauma or pushing, pulling, lifting for a period of six weeks.  The main concern is that any bleeding during the normal formation of the capsule increases the risk of capsular contracture or implant displacement.  If your implants feel like they are softening and relaxing then I doubt that you've caused any harm.  However, I would avoid repeating any such trauma for several weeks.  Watch the video above for some of the information that I provide to my patients.Jon A Perlman MD FACS

Several concerns you should have:  Bleeding in the implant pocket, displacement of the implant position and infection.  You should wait several weeks.  Discuss this with your PS.

No one but you and your surgeon should touch your breasts for the first few weeks after breast augmentation. My concern is infection caused by different bacterial flora of your boyfriend. To rough handling could cause bleeding.
