I have lines across my forehead and other areas of my face. I am 44 years of age and very self conscious. I also want Rhinoplasty although do not know if I can get both done at the same time. I hate the lines on my face and want to look in my twenties again.

Hello and thank you for your question. Generally, your risk for complications increases after your surgery length exceeds 4.5-5 hours. Although there are some surgeons who can do a facelift and rhinoplasty collectively in less than this amount of time, many will take that whole time for just the facelift. Additionally, both a facelift and a rhinoplasty are very complex procedures, even for those surgeons who do hundreds of them every year, so you do not want your surgeon rushing with either the facelift or the rhinoplasty, as you want them to instead deliver the best possible aesthetic result from these procedures. Therefore, it is possible to do the rhinoplasty during the same surgery, but given the unnecessarily increased risk for complications in combining these elective procedures, I would not recommend it. The safer option would be to stage these into 2 separate surgeries- the facelift as one surgery, and the rhinoplasty as another. I hope this helps!

Many patients choose to combine procedures to minimize anesthesia and recovery time and produce more dramatic results. While you appear to be a candidate for rhinoplasty and a facelift to enhance your appearance, the dynamic forehead wrinkles you’re referring to would likely benefit most from Botox injections to smooth them away.

Facelift and rhinoplasty surgery are often combined since reshaping the nose can also contribute to the more youthful appearance of the face.

Considering that the jawline contour is relatively good in your case, you could also opt for a deep plane neck lift procedure which improves the appearance of the jawline but more specifically addresses the definition of the neck and submental area. This has a tendency to emphasise the appearance of the facial features.

The benefit to having a facelift and a rhinoplasty done at the same time is there is a single recovery, and the price is usually less because there is a single anesthesia.  The lines on your forehead are best treated with Botox to deactivate your frontalis muscle, so that it stops flexing the skin of your forehead. The lines on your face are more likely to be amenable to a facelift and ancillary treatments such as Renova, chemical peels or laser resurfacing of the skin. It should be decided on the basis of in person evaluation and discussion about options, what are the best procedure in your case. Rhinoplasty would create benefit as well as neck lift.
