Hello everyone, Is the current hair growth rate normal ? The procedure was done out of the country in Colombia and I'm soon to return to the country to see my doctor for a check up. In light of this event I thought it would be great to ask for a professional second opinion. I have attached photos of my current state of growth, after the procedure and also before. Thank you very much for your professional input I look forward to hearing your advise!

Answer: Hair growth It can take up to a year or longer for your hair to grow. We use a combination of regenerative techniques to help hair "grow sooner". There are cases where 2000 grafts may not yield 2000 growing grafts. A team of staff and surgeon will help improve percentage of yield including using correct parameters on ARTAS, safe graft handling, and proper hair graft storage. Choose a surgeon with experience in the latest techniques for best results. Best Dr. Anil Shah

Answer: Patient worried about lack of growth after 7.5 months...very concerning. ATLANTA, GEORGIA Dear emanuel gonzalez, Thank you for posting this question. There are several reasons why a hair restoration will fail, and nearly 100% of the time it is the failure of the surgeon and his team to perform the operation properly. It’s not an easy procedure, and just because a given physician has acquired the ARTAS robot is by no means a guarantee of a good, nor even acceptable result. The robot is not like a car wash where you stick your head in a “presto” out comes your head with all the hair moved to its new location. Instead, think of the ARTAS system as a paintbrush….it’s merely a tool. No paintbrush of any value can guarantee a beautiful painting. Same with the ARTAS system. It helps the surgeon perform only one of the many aspects of hair transplant surgery; most of the procedure is still done by hand. It is not the technology, but the talent, experience, dedication and long track record of success of the physician and his team of technicians that will determine the cosmetic outcome of a hair transplant procedure. Every single time. My patients typically see substantially more growth and density at 7.5 months than the pictures you have posted. I would return to the physician who performed your procedure to see what he or she thinks, and what they are prepared to do about it. I hope this information is helpful to you. Kind Regards, Ken Anderson, MD, FISHRS

Answer: I would expect to see better results by now While you still can expect to see more hair growth over the next few month, I would expect to see more results by 7.5 months. If you look at the ARTAS before and after page, you can see the first pic is one of my patients just 6 months after his procedure. The reason you may be experience less results could be from a variety of factors from graft handling, graft harvesting, and out of body time. Also, judging from your graft placement, I personally like to pack the hairline density quite a bit tighter than what was shown in your pics. The good news is that grafts are growing, and you seem to have good hair otherwise, so if needed a touch up procedure by a qualified ARTAS center of clinical excellence should help you get the results you desire. Best of luck. Dr. Rome

Answer: Decreased growth after donor harvesting with ARTAS FUEXcision Generally speaking, in my opinion, hair transplant surgery includes 5-6 critical steps and each step is important for a successful results. You have almost 8 months PO and should have 75-80%, the hair growth that I see in the photos is not normal, the new hair is sparse with implantation issues too. Poor or decreased hair growth after hair transplantation could be related to too many factors such as: low quality hair grafts, high transected grafts, long surgery hours, shallow recipient sites, etc. Also there are other issues in the recipient area. I will suggest you to ask for a 2nd opinion of hair loss specialist (Drs. Matt Leavitt or Eugene Rodillo) in Orlando before heading to Colombia for your follow-up. Good luck.
