Dear MV007, Thank you for posting this question. I had a look at your photos and have a couple of comments. First is that you appear to have scabbing and crusting in the recipient area, which is uncommon 3 weeks following any hair restoration procedure. My patients are instructed to use the liposomal ATP nutrient spray on their recipient area grafts once and hour while they are awake for the first 3 days following the procedure. This helps to wash away the scabbing and crusting allowing the skin to heal in much more optimal conditions. Underneath any scab is always a layer of bacteria that sits there, increasing redness, increasing inflammation, and delaying healing. At 10 days, all of the scabbing and crusting in the recipient area should be gone. The second comment is the number of grafts. 1,500 grafts is not a small number, and I’m not sure where they would have put all the grafts. There is a limit to how densely the grafts can be placed in the recipient area, so one can tell from the area covered roughly how many grafts were placed. Perhaps you have more hair loss posteriorly that is not evident in the photographs. Finally, the shape of the hairline: you appear to be a Caucasian man, and I find it generally inadvisable to round off the corners of the frontal hairline as was done in your case. It can look artificial as time passes. You’re now committed to rounded corners, which means you’ll need to be very diligent about hair loss prevention, especially if you start to lose hair in the crown. This is because it may start to look unusual if you have rounded corners in the front, implying zero hair loss at all, and also have thinning in the crown area in the back, where the swirl is in your hair. Usually if there’s hair loss in the crown there is also at least some loss in the corners in the front, and we as humans are used to seeing this pattern in nature. All in all these are minor issues, and overall it looks great for being 3 weeks out. I hope this information is helpful to you. Kind Regards, Ken Anderson, MD, FISHRS
