How often should one get lip filler? My filler of choice is Volbella

Volbella is one of my favorite lip fillers. First, it’s nice and thin and soft, so that it looks and feels very natural. Second, it can last for up to 12 months, which makes it a great value for the patient. You may find you need touch-ups sooner than that; everything depends on your metabolism and your choice. Consulting with a board-certified dermatologist will help you get a really beautiful lip augmentation with Volbella.

The results of fillers such as Juvederm Volbella/Vollure or restylane silk/defyne/refine can vary slightly from person to person, but the results generally last 6-9 months.  Patients who exercise more or have fast metabolisms will have to do their fillers more often.  Fat injections and lip implants can be used for those who do not get longevitiy with fillers. Alternatives to achieving a full lip are NOVA Threads, which can provide lift and some volume as well.   I would suggest consulting with a facial sculpting expert to help you achieve your desired look.

The duration of lip fillers is quite variable. The product,Volbella, has a duration of up to a year however in clinical practice it is closer to 6 months. Fillers tend to resolve sooner around the mouth/lip areas since the area is very dynamic. Patients who workout often and have a high metabolism tend to retain filler for shorter durations. Volbella is a nice filler for lip lines and definition of the lip border however it is not my first choice for plumping/volumizing the lips. Perhaps you would get longer duration if you used a combination of fillers for lip enhancement. Please consult a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon experienced in fillers. Lip fillers are used to achieve a plump look on the lips. As long as they look natural and not overdone there is no limit. Consult with your doctor to know more.

Thank you for your question. The amount of time that fillers last varies from person to person as our bodies metabolize the product at different rates. I usually recommend my patients come back after 6 months for another treatment and then space the visits out a bit more after that. Hi. If you are looking for very subtle changes in lip volume with more border definition then Volbella is the correct product and will last around 6 months. If you are looking for still a natural amount of volume but a bit more pout I would recommend the use of Vollure which will last around 9 months. Most patients in our practice prefer the Vollure over Volbella as many are looking for more so for volume, but either can be used in the lips. As other providers have stated the longevity of lip filler can vary from patient to patient and the numbers I listed above are the average. However, your individual metabolism, product choice, area of placement can all affect the longevity of the filler. 

Personal experience and observation is VolBella lasts 3 to 6 months. Also dependent upon your metabolism, amount of filler volume injected, expertise of injector.
