I had volbella xc done about 7-8 months ago in my under eye area. All of a sudden I got a reaction and the area that was injected got swollen about a week ago. My Dr. says that can happen. I was given am RX and it went away. Is this normal? Should i stay away from volbella? Please chime in.
Answer: Volbella Under Eye Reaction vycross technology can cause delayed reactions more than other fillers HOWEVER all fillers can cause delayed reactions and the under eye area is one of the most common areas for this to occur. The best treatment would be reversal of the filler, and some medication to calm this down. I suggest you see an exxpert. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Is having a delayed reaction to Volbella normal/possible? Does it mean I'm allergic? Volbella is a type of dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, which is a substance naturally found in the body. While adverse reactions to hyaluronic acid fillers like Volbella are rare, they can occur, and delayed reactions are possible, although less common.A delayed reaction to Volbella could manifest as redness, swelling, tenderness, or itching at the injection site days or even weeks after the treatment. It's important to note that delayed reactions can occur for various reasons, and they don't necessarily indicate an allergy to the filler.Possible reasons for delayed reactions to Volbella or other hyaluronic acid fillers include:1. Inflammation: The body's immune response to the filler material can sometimes cause delayed inflammation at the injection site.2. Infection: In rare cases, delayed reactions may be due to infection at the injection site. Signs of infection may include increased swelling, warmth, redness, and pain.3. Granulomas: Granulomas are small, benign lumps that can form in response to filler injections. They may develop weeks or months after the treatment and can cause delayed swelling or lumps in the treated area.4. Product Migration: Fillers can sometimes migrate or move from the injection site, leading to delayed swelling or changes in the treated area.If you experience a delayed reaction to Volbella or any other filler, it's essential to contact your healthcare provider or the healthcare professional who performed the injection. They can evaluate your symptoms, determine the cause of the reaction, and recommend appropriate treatment. If you suspect an allergic reaction, your healthcare provider may perform allergy testing or refer you to an allergist for further evaluation. Allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid fillers are rare but can occur, especially in individuals with a history of allergies or sensitivities.Overall, it's crucial to seek medical attention promptly if you experience any unusual or concerning symptoms after filler injections, including delayed reactions. Your healthcare provider can provide guidance and determine the best course of action based on your individual situation.

Answer: Volbella Volbella is not designed to be injected underneath the eyes. Although as a hyaluronic acid it could be theoretically injected anywhere. I do not believe such a delayed reaction is expected. You need to return to your injector. They will create a case and send it over to Allergan. The company will respond within few days with an answer.

Answer: Volbella Delayed Reaction I have seen a number of cases of delayed inflammatory reactions to Volbella. In my experience they usually occur a couple months post-injection, but it is certainly possible that they could occur later than that. I treat these cases with an antibiotic such as doxycycline, which has resolved the issue in the cases I have seen. I have seen these reactions with Volbella at a much higher rate than other fillers (even the other vycross fillers Voluma and Vollure) which is why I have stopped injecting Volbella at my clinic for the time being. There are so many other great options out there and given the fact that you had this reaction to Volbella it would seem prudent to avoid it in the future.
