Questions regarding asymmetry stroke was 12, 8, 2022-I had a stroke at 54years old. I was paralysied.I had to learn how to walk. move my left arm again. I spent a mth in a facility I learned to walk move my arm but shortly after I realized my buttock was not the same size. My right buttock was bigger then the left. I had a GS ORDER AN MRI. It was negative. Good news but calater revealed I did not have muscleatrophy . Can someone tell me if they can get my left buttock to match my right buttock to create n even smooth look gain
Answer: Fat transfer for atrophy unilateral Hello, thank you for your question. Great news to hear about your rehabilitation success! It is possible to perform a reconstructive fat transfer to the atrophic buttock however given your health condition and pending the reason for the stroke, it maybe risky to undergo general anesthesia for this reason. It is possible to perform the reconstruction under local anesthetic but this may take several treatments of fat transfers over the course of a year. Even then you may not get a perfectly symmetrical buttock. In addition to adding fat to the atrophic buttock you can remove fat from the other buttock to help even it out. Speak to your plastic surgeon to review your options after completion of an examination and history.

Answer: Fat grafting to achieve symmetry Considering the volume loss, significant augmentation is needed to improve balance and symmetry. This can be provided by means of fat grafting; fat harvested from abdomen and flanks with liposuction can be used for volume augmentation of deflated buttock. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon, familiar with fat transfer, is recommended. Good luck.

Answer: Buttock asymmetry after stroke Sorry to hear of your misfortune but congratulations for forging ahead with a strong recovery. For your level of asymmetry/atrophy, it is highly unlikely that you would ever get a sufficient amount of fat to survive from BBL fat transfer. DO NOT let any physician or surgeon talk you into using Sculptra for this, it will be a guaranteed failure and a huge waste of money. Thus, buttock implants are your only reliable, predictable, relatively safe and permanent option. Final note, because an extremely few number of board certified plastic surgeons specialize in buttock implants, you may have to travel away from your local area to seek consultation with this particular type of surgeon. Glad to help.

Answer: Fat transfer Dear my next journey, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Based on your photos, it looks like you would benefit from fat transfer. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Asymmetry after stroke Any patient who recently had a stroke should not have elective surgery because of risk of a second stroke. Talk to Neurologist about medical clearance of when it’s appropriate to consider cosmetic surgery if you really want to go that route. Fat transfer would most likely be what most plastic surgeons would recommend. As noted by other providers gluteal implants can be an option but most plastic surgeons in the United States opt to not use gluteal implants because of the high complication rates. Certain doctors who specialize in that procedure have better outcomes than those who have less experience but generally speaking implants come with a fair amount of undesirable Side effects and complications. Delivering consistent quality liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people believe. If you opt for that option then it’s important to find the most talented and experienced provider in your community. Do that by having multiple in person consultations. during each consultation ask each provider to show their entire collection of before and after pictures. Personally it seems that working on maximizing recovery after your stroke until you’ve achieved as much as you can with physical therapy and rehabilitation should be you’re number one goal for the near future. You can always start having consultations with local plastic surgeons if you feel the need is strong enough that you want to have surgical intervention. Being board-certified and plastic surgery with an overall good reputation is insufficient to guarantee someone has mastered liposuction with fat transfer. These procedures can be more difficult to do well than people believe so patients should be highly selective and vet plastic surgeons to find the most appropriate provider. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
