Hi! It is understandble that cost is a factor and most people have a budget to work with. I would not suggest finding the cheapest surgeon but find a board certified surgeon with excellent reviews. Once you find a surgeon you feel comfortable with talk to the coordinator about financing options. It would be better to wait and save some money than hurry and have the procedure with unsatisfactory results. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. Shopping for the right cosmetic surgeon is a bit like shopping for wine. You don’t want to spend a fortune but you also want something that tastes great and gives you the quality experience you’re looking for. Finding the most qualified surgeon and practice is equally as important as staying on budget. While it’s tempting to go with the cheapest quote remember this is still major surgery. You will live with the effects of this decision for the rest of your life. Bad outcomes end up costing you more in revisions and complications with the end result being not such a great “deal” after all. The American society of plastic surgery recommends you only chose a board certified surgeon. A great solution to the cost-quality equation is medical tourism. Medical tourism is driven by people searching for treatments that work in countries where the cost of the operation is much lower than in their home country. Colombia, is an attractive to consumers looking for the ultimate combination of quality, price, service, and value. In Colombia surgeons can offer prices often 30-50% less than in the United States and Europe while maintaining quality and safety. However wherever you decide to go for your surgery don't settle for less than a board certified surgeon.
Hi, Thank you for your post. I would recommend that you set up a few consultations with board certified plastic surgeons to go over all of your options, however, I would not base your surgery on cost alone even though I understand that it does play a big factor. I am sure that you can find a cheap surgeon but I caution you that sometimes you get what you pay for.
Not all breast augmentations are the same. I think I saw a billboard sign that was advertising somewhere in Tennessee that was offering breast augmentation for $2999!Best Wishes,Nana Mizuguchi, MD
Cost factors vary significantly for a number of good reasons: Prices vary greatly because the surgery itself encompasses a wide range of techniques that can be performed to different extents. My recommendation is to first find the most qualified surgeons where you want the surgery performed that are board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery you trust, then compare prices between them. See the below link on suggestions on how to find the most qualified plastic surgeon for your procedure. General Factors that influence the price of plastic surgery include: 1. Location - Will it be performed in a hospital with an overnight stay, an independent out- patient facility or a doctor’s office? Geographical location also has a significant influence. RealSelf has average charges for most areas of the USA. 2. Type of Anesthesia - local, IV sedation or General Anesthesia? Will a board certified anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetist, or an RN be used? 3. Experience and training of your surgeon. The best and longest trained is most often a plastic surgeon board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery 4. Length and Complexity of Surgery - how difficult will your surgery be and how long it will take, etc. Will other complementary procedures also be also performed during the same surgery?
Thank you for your question. It is highly unlikely you would be able to get a breast augmentation for $3000 or less. There are many factors to consider, one being the cost of the implants themselves and the experience of the surgeon you are using. I highly encourage you to find a Board Certified Plastic surgeon to consult with and have your surgery. In terms of having surgery anywhere on your body, cheaper is not a good route. At our office we have revised (fixed) several patients who chose to go the cheaper route and ended up with a poor aesthetic outcome and even worse, health complications. I am sure you will be able to find someone out there who can do it for that price but I would proceed with extreme caution, if you are even considering it, because in the long run you could end up paying twice the amount for the original surgery and then a revision. I hope this is helpful.
Price varies by Surgeon, Location, Anesthesia, Etc.Choose a board certified plastic surgeon who has done a ton of Breast augmentation and has privileges to do this surgery at a local university hospital. This says his credentials have been checked out by fellow Drs. All surgeries carry risk, talk to your plastic surgeon. Many surgeons offer online virtualconsultations where you send us your photos to be examined. Please bemindful that the in person physical exam is the most important and couldpotentially alter your treatment plan.
Thank you for your question. I understand that cost is important, however, Plastic Surgery is not something that you want to do based on lowest price. Complications, cost to fly back and forth to someone, who may not be qualified, or Board Certified, can be more expensive then if you had it done with someone with quailfications in the first place. I recommend waiting until you can afford a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who come's highly recommended.
I do not personally know of any board certified plastic surgeons that perform a breast surgery that INCLUDES the implants for surgery. I would advice against making your decision based solely on prices and focus more on how comfortable you are with a doctor and staff and also his or her results. Best of luck in your cosmetic surgery journey!
When it comes to cost of surgery, there may be many “variables” involved. The specific surgeon's credentials/experience level (or lack thereof), the specific geographic area you are looking at, the different operations available, the location of the procedure ( quality of surgery facility), type/quality of anesthesia provider, type of breast implants… are some of the potential variables involved. You will find average costs of surgery listed on this website, and on individual plastic surgeon's websites as well. In regards to outcome of the planned procedure, more important than costs of the procedures will be careful selection of your plastic surgeon. I would suggest starting with the American Society of Plastic Surgery and/or the Aesthetic Society of Plastic Surgery to obtain a list of well experienced board-certified plastic surgeons. Then, I would suggest you visit a few surgeons whose practices concentrate on aesthetic surgery. ***Ask to SEE lots of examples of their work AND preferably speak/see patients who have had similar procedures done. Be very careful with your decision-making. You will find, while doing your due diligence, that there are many different “specialties” who will offer their services to you; again, I strongly recommend you concentrate on surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. I would also suggest that you do not base your selection of plastic surgeon primarily on costs of surgery; keep in mind that revisionary surgery may be more costly in many ways. Much better to wait (save up) and not potentially compromise safety and/or outcome... Best wishes.
Postoperative hygiene is very important as you suggest. The last thing that a surgeon or patient wants after a breast augmentation is for the patient to get an infection! Protecting incisions is a key part of the process. One of the reasons I insist that my patients get a nonunderwire,...
Implants placed under the muscle using the dual plane technique commonly develop animation deformity, which is likely what you have. That is because part of the pectoral muscle is detached, and this part of the muscle then adheres to the scar capsule during healing, so contracting the muscle...
Hi and welcome to our forum! Throat irritation is common after any operative procedure requiring intubation. It is usually self limited and will subside within a week or so. A cough suppressant may be of value. However, you are describing episodic shortness of breath, suggesting that your a...
