Dear eejaayy,bottoming out occurs when the implant falls below the current breast crease or inframammary line. It's more likely to happen with inframammary incisions which is why I try not to use the inframammary approach to any breast surgery. Bottoming out can also occur if an implant is too large for the breast pocket. That is why it is important to choose an implant size that's correct for your body. Dear e,   Thanks for submitting your before and after pictures. From observing your pictures, I agree with you that your left breasts is bottoming out. Also,  the cleavage on that side is wider as well.     At this early stage , there is still a chance to self correct , by wearing a bra with a wire on the left side ,  trying to elevate the crease and doing  medial and superior implant displacement massage, in order to improve on the cleavage.  I would give it a trial for 2-3 months and if no satisfactory improvement occurs, you might have to have revision surgery that includes inferior capsulorrhaphy (internal bra) and medial capsulotomy (scar release) , to give you a nice cleavage.                      Best of luck,                                          Dr Widder

It is very difficult to tell from your photos, but at this stage I think you have a very reasonable result.  You do appear to have a little asymmetry but it may even out.  Make an appointment for a review with your surgeon.  There's not a whole lot to be done at this stage except wait for everything to completely settle.

The teardrop implants are usually textured which means they hold their position better than smooth implants.  It is not uncommon to have asymmetry for the first 6 weeks or so after surgery.  Your skin, breast tissue, and muscle all have significant swelling so its important to let this resolve.  Make sure you bring this up with you PS.  I bet when the healing is all done you will look great.

Your photos have some shadowing (overhead or side lights have created shadows in the images). This makes your bottoming out concerns somewhat more difficult to visualise. Three (3) weeks is still quite early days after breast augmentation surgery; and whilst it is common to be concerned; overall, your breast implants look to be in a reasonable position for three weeks post-surgery. However, the wearing of a supportive surgical bra over the next 4 to 6 weeks, 24 hours per day, is extremely important to help establish a more permanent position for the prostheses (implants). You should also be careful not to overdo things during the healing phase. We suggest closely following your Surgeon's recommendations for healing and recovery. Be sure you discuss the post-surgery protocols with your Surgeon and his or her patient support team; and in relation to any concerns you have after surgery, these are best discussed with your Plastic Surgeon.
