Botox is not generally used in the lower face, as too much of the product could have a negative impact on your ability to move your mouth, speak, and eat. Larger doses can also cause drooling and lip asymmetry. However, some practitioners do use smaller doses to soften the lines around the mouth or to create the appearance of pouty lips.If you are concerned about an adverse reaction, you may want to consider a follow up with your dermatologist or a second opinion from another practitioner near you. The affect of Botox will wear off eventually, typically within two to five months. In the mean time, I have included a link to the uses and contraindications of Botox below.
Hello lucie c,Fortunately, BOTOX effects are not permanent. Since you got a few units injected the product would wear off quicker and you shouldn’t have serious undesirable results. Best wishes! Dr. De La Cruz.
Thank you for sharing your concerns about your recent Botox treatment. First and foremost, your injector should know the different indications for Botox injections vs. filler injections. I strongly recommend you follow up with your injector to discuss how this occurred and potentially seek future care elsewhere. With that said, 3 units to the lower lip will soften the fine lines of the lower lip and possibly weaken your ability to purse your lips. The good news is, the effects of Botox in this area will not last long due to the high mobility in this area. You can expect the results to wear off completely in 3 months. In the future, be sure to discuss your treatment plan with your injector prior to any treatment. Best of luck, Dr. Kian.
It is odd to receive botox, instead of filler, by accident. However, I often use botox in the lower lip (where the pink of the lip meets the skin) to soften the wrinkles that occur with pursing of the lips. I use filler to enhance the lower lip. We can also combine these treatments.
This is an unusual occurrance, but 3 units will not create any lasting problems. But you will have to wait until the Botox wears off. Fortunately, the effects of Botox are temporary.
Not really sure how something like this could even happen. Worse case scenario, you may have some weakness of the lower lip that should resolve quickly. Best case scenario, nothing happens as 3 units is a small dose. I would seriously re-consider who you have doing your injections.
This is not a typical mistake. Botox can cause weakness in the lip. Botox results resolve in 3-4 months. Venus legacy treatments can soften results. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry to hear of your accident. Most likely you will experience some mild lower lip weakness which may make speaking seem odd or create difficulty with sucking through a straw. Luckily with such a low dosing your symptoms should improve quickly.
Thank you for your question. The result of Botox injected into the lower lip really depends on placement. If the product was injected along the vermillion boarder and into the muscle it will lessen muscle contracture in that area. Best of luck.
Sorry to hear about your experience. This is quite a strange mix-up. If you plan to have fillers or BOTOX® done again, make sure you’re working with a reputable professional. This really shouldn’t have happened. That said, the only thing you can do now is to wait for the BOTOX® to wear off, which usually takes 3 to 4 months. Since it was a low dosage, you shouldn’t notice any severe effects, other than possibly some mild weakening or drooping of your lower lip. Wishing you all the best in dealing with this unfortunate situation.
