Will the new loose skin under my chin go away with time? (photo)

We offer the Cool mini as a non-surgical alternative to liposuction for the right candidate. For optimal results, 2 treatments are generally required. The treatments are separated by 4-6 weeks. If there is mild to moderate skin laxity, combining the treatment with Ultherapy is an option. Usually Ultherapy is performed 4-6 weeks after the last Coolmini treatment.  I would anticipate that you will have a significant improvement in you profile with Coolsculpting Mini. Hi and thank you for your question! We are loving the cool mini results and we are seeing skin tightening with this treatment. Its possible there was some loose skin there and its more noticeable right now since the fat is diminishing.? However, The skin should continue to retract, as full results can take 3 months. You may need to consider a skin tightening treatment, if it doesn't resolve completely and its still bothersome. I recommend you go into the practice after the 3 months for follow up pictures an they can compare the pre and post treatment pictures. Best, Dr. Grant Stevens

It is normal for skin to feel a bit loose under chin after fat is removed.  Skin has been shown to tighten with coolsculpting, even though it was designed to treat fat.  It takes longer for skin to shrink than for fat to go away, so you can expect it to improve.  Consider Skin Tyte (infrared light) by Sciton in the interim to tighten up the skin more quickly!

Hi Jennifer !The great thing about Coolsculpting is that that fat slowly flushes out so that the skin left behind has time to retract. I recommend doing a series of RadioFrequency treatments on the Neck after 3 months to achieve additional tightening. Combine RadioFrequency with a great neck cream like Nectifirm by Revision and you will be in good shape. Thanks for your question!

CoolSculpting allows the skin to contract slowly, which helps reduce any skin elasticity issues. It has now been FDA cleared that CoolSculpting of under the chin can improve the appearance of lax skin. I would recommend waiting the full amount of time before final results are determined. First round of treatment gives about 20-25% reduction and with a re-treatment, you may see more improvement.

The wonderful thing is that it worked, the beautiful thing is that you are young and your skin has a better capability of tightening by itself.  Other than laser and more invasive modalities for tightening it would be acceptable to get another evaluation in 2 months and see if treating it with Kybella would be recommended. If you are only six weeks out the skin may still be somewhat loose and "boggy," like jello.  Over the next two to four months you will probaly see the skin retract.  Be sure to follow up with your injecting doctor for photos and potential second treatment based on how much fat is remaining.  There are also many skin tightening devices on the market, both invasive and non-invasive, that may improve the tone and elasticity of the skin.
