Motiva Implants are at least a few years from a possible FDA approval. No one can offer them in the US today. A clinical trial will probably begin within the next six months or so, but the number of patient slots will be very limited and patients who enroll will have a lot of follow-up to do. The key point that you raised is that you didn't like the feel of any of the implants you tried. I have examined patients with Motiva implants and could not detect a dramatic difference in feel. Implant size, profile, tissue thickness, skin tightness, capsule formation, and other issues have more to do with the final feel than a subtle difference in implant composition.Given that you didn't like the feel of any implants, the issue you need to think about is whether you want any implant at all. There is a great selection of implants right now in the US and "the feel" is not a frequent objection i encounter. My suggestion for you would be to dig deeper into what it was that you didn't like about them. You should also realize that how an implant feels in your hand is different than how it will feel in your body. Several surgeons responded to you that you should select implants made in the US. Sientra implants were made in Brazil until the factory burned down, and they are now awaiting approval of a US facility. Mentor is made in Texas. Allergan is made in Costa Rica, very close to the Motiva factory. But the FDA inspects all of these facilities and applies the same rigorous standards to each. I've toured the Mentor, Allergan, and Motiva facilities, and geography plays no role in the quality of the product they turn out.The Allergan and Motiva factories are in large industrial parks. As you drive down the street you see the names of all of the biggest US companies that manufacture heart valves and other critical devices. The bottom line is that it is much cheaper to make them there and the quality is every bit as good as if they were made here.If you do want to wait and see if there is a spot for you in the Motiva trial you could set a google alert for the announcement of the trial. Just realize there is a lot of work involved with being in a trial and that it won't necessarily feel any better to you than the other implants. Perhaps it will, but you can't expect it to be much different.
