Can hydrafacials make dry skin peel off?

I recently had a hydrafacial done, and immediately after my skin was feeling EXTREMELY dry. About 3 days later my entire face actually started to peel. It’s as if I had a sunburn and my skin began to peel. On top of that my skin is so dry I actually developed wrinkles, and I’m only 20. Is this typical at all?

There is a peel component to the HydraFacial treatment that may have caused this dryness. This peel component can actually be excluded. I recommend discussing your results with your provider and asking if the peel component was used. I hope this helps. Best wishes!

Hydrafacial is typically a moisture enhancing treatment. However, there is a peel component to the procedure. You can check with your provider to see what strength the peel was; perhaps do a less concentrated peel next time if you were at a higher level. Additionally, Retin A, retinols, glycolics used right before the treatment can enhance the peeling effects.  If none of these are the issue, consider using a moisturizing cream afterward. Usually with successive treatments peeling should be lessened because your skin has already been exfoliated recently.

Hi. Since there is a peel component to the hydrafacial this could potentially happen.  Make sure to let your provider know how you reacted so it can be modified to your skin for the next treatment.  Keep your skin hydrated and make sure you are not using a retinol, retin-A or other skin exfoliant before/after treatments.
