Thank you for your question and congratulation for your recent operation. I agree wit the other colleagues in saying that often swelling masks the cosmetic result and it takes time for everything to settle. 4 weeks are not enough and you will have to exercise patience for several more months. Bare in mind that most of the time, the residual scars following a blepharoplasty are nearly invisible. If you have a major concern with regards to the scars, do contact your surgeon and ask for an early review. I am sure you will be fine. All the best.Andrea Marando
At 4 weeks you may still have some swelling. This can alter the appearance of the crease. If the incision was made high, with time it may settle in so that you won't see it with your eyes open. Give it at least 6 months. If still too high and visible, you may be able to do a revision to eliminate the high crease.
The upper eyelid crease is determined by underlying attachments to a specific muscle, not just where the superficial incision is. It also has to do with hollowness around the eyes. Best to submit photos or see an oculoplastic specialist in person for more accurate response.
Thank you for sharing your concerns. The incision for upper eyelid blepharoplasty should be in the crease line. Give some more time to pass, because it is still relatively too soon post op to determine results. Scars usually fully heal in up to 1 year, so it might not even be seen. Good luck.
Hello,It will take up to 6 months to see your fully healed, settled results with no swelling and scars are maturing for up to a year. It is reasonable to expect that the scars and surrounding skin will soften and settle properly. Share your concerns with your Plastic Surgeon. All the best
Hello and thank you for your question. I would love to answer your question, but would highly recommend, if you are willing to submit pictures of your eyes and scars. In general, you are early in the healing phase and be patient with the incisions and where they lie. This will change enormously over time. Good luck!
A medial epicanthoplasty changes the fold that hangs over the inner canthus. It is a very small procedure and, if not overdone, the small scar that results can be a fair tradeoff for most patients.
Dear Jeff,While upper lid blepharoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia quite comfortably; lower lid blepharoplasty is different. In order to remove the fat in the lower lid, the surgeon must pull the fat forward -- and in the lower lid, this can be quite uncomfortable, giving the...
Chemosis can happen after eyelid surgery. Sometimes it gets better if treated with steroid eye drops. The stiches will take 2-3 weeks to dissolve depending on the type of suture that was used.Hope this helps,Dr. Gus Diaz
