I hate how close together my eyes are. Are they too close to one another?

I heard that eyes are suppose to be around 4cm or a eyelength apart from one another. Mine is not . I find my eyes are too close to one another and my face is wide as heck. Are my eyes too close to one another? What are my options if they are. I am crying so hard I don't want them to be so close to one another and a wide face . I hate my face so bad

Hello Samantha,I do not see anything wrong with your eyes. In fact, I think they are quite proportionate, spaced well apart. 4 cm would be a very wide "eye-lenth" apart- more appropriate for an anime character or a doll- not realistic. Your face does not appear wide from my perspective.I'm sorry that you are feeling this way about yourself. Please talk with your Family Doctor or a councillor you can trust.Take care

Hi Samantha. You look great and I wouldn't recommend any surgery. Facial features need to be viewed in relation to each persons unique facial proportions. Measurements are just a guide. It is not unusual that people are self conscious about a certain feature and usually it is not so obvious to others. We all  have  unique features that characterize us anyway.  In your case,  I do not see anything wrong with the appearance of your eyes.

You are completely normal!   I hate that you feel so bad about your appearance.  No one sees the things that you are so concerned about in the same way you do.  The procedures that widen the space between your eyes are major craniofacial reconstruction procedues that are generally reserved for patients with congenital birth defects.  You are certainly not in that category.  I hope you begin to feel better about your appearance because you look great!

Hi Samantha,Thank you for sharing your concerns and photographs. I am sorry you are feeling so bad, but you look great and should not consider any surgery. I am sure all the other physicians who respond after me will agree. Even if you looked like a candidate for surgery (which you certainly do not), it would require major reconstruction. You should feel good about how you look. If you are still so emotional about your appearance you should ask your primary care physician if a counselor can be recommended. I think that you look great and you don't have hypotelorism (eyes too close together.)  You appear too be fairly young and are likely in a facial growth phase which can sometimes be upsetting to a person.  I am concerned about your seemingly unusual reaction to your looks.  Please discuss your sadness with family and seek help.
