Am I causing more damage to nerve endings by wearing a compression garment as much as I do?

Question

I had liposuction to breast/abdomen/flanks and back on 12/17/2015. I continue to experience the pins and needles with burning pain sensation more so to the flank areas. I find that wearing a compression garment "calms" the nerve endings, and provide support. I wear it during work, then at bedtime. I'm taking Vitamin B's/DHA and Vitamin E. I'm trying to do everything possible to calm the nerve pain but it's distressing. I do have abdominal swelling and mons pubis swelling. Thank you.

I prescribe oral neurontin to help this, it goes away in 3-12 months after surgery.  compression will not harm you.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Many patients like wearing the compression garments longer than the prescribed length of time.I have no problem with my patients are wearing the compression garments as long as they like.I do not think this will have any impact on your ability to regain your sensation.Almost all patients will regain normal sensation with enough time.Nerve regeneration is slow.It takes many months.At two months the majority of swelling should be gone.Still you have a few more months before you see your final results.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
