My nose has always been something that has made me self conscious. I never thought about a chin implant until I saw before and after pictures of people on here who had the same/similar face shape as mine. How much would these procedures together cost? And would it be possible to do them at the same time?
Answer: Short nose + microgenia Better images are needed to assess your case, however so far from the photo posted I can comment the basics. The nose has a good profile, may you wish a subtle dorsal shaving this is an option; the main issue is the nasal angle, too high and the tip overly rotated, also a bit too projected the tip; if you wish a mild derotation you may work with an en bloc shield graft (columella-tip), may you lower further the nasolabial angle then you have to undergo septal lengthening; both options are equally valid.Let me point out the serious disadvantages of chin implants, which are of great technical ease for surgeons but troublesome for patients, having a short lifetime, high rate of unnatural results, high rate of complications like infection, dislocation and nerve irritation, etc. I strongly vow osseous genioplasties, which are lifetime stable, natural and leading to versatile and natural results, though more technically challenging and performed by few.About your chin, you may agree with me you chin is as much vertically short than anteriorly deprojected, and needs both: vertical height increase and anterior increas/re-projection; this is absolutely unfeasible with a chin implant (which provides anterior increase only) besides is aforementioned downsides. This procedure is called two dimenstional augmentation geniplasty, is an awesome operation with shocking results and safe in the best hands.Do research about this topic.

Answer: The relation of the nose and chin to facial harmony Dear Stefanie,Thank you for your question. It is hard to evaluate your nose from a single profile image, but there is a disparity between your nose and chin that can be brought into greater harmony. It is very common to perform a nose and chin surgery at the same time. Also, each of these procedures can be performed separately. I think what would be essential for you is to have a consultation in which computer simulation is performed. This type of simulation affords a greater understanding for you and how to improve your facial harmony. This also helps to highlight your goals and set realistic expectations. As one can imagine there are a series of nuances associated with cost in these procedures. Simply stated, greater complexity requires greater time investment and as a result there is a greater cost. The details of this can be easily reviewed during your consultation. I would recommend consultation with a board certified surgeon who specializes in treatment of the face. Be healthy and be well, James M. Ridgway, MD, FACS
