Has bone erosion been observed in the years after a Sliding Genioplasty?

I am interested in getting a sliding genioplasty to fix my profile and am not interested in a chin implant. My question is, has bone erosion been observed in the years after a sliding genioplasty? If so, would this be from the plate and screw hardware?

Over time, the bone actually tends to grow over the hardware. Occasionally, the hardware is removed due to irritation, but at that point, the bone has healed and the chin segment will remain in place. There is no reason for the bone to erode.

Bone erosion does not typically occur with a sliding genioplasty. It occurs most commonly from chin implants such as those made from silicone. On the contrary, after a sliding genioplasty, bone forms in and around the cut(s), which helps with smoothening the contours.
