I had a lift with augmentation on 6/16. 415cc high profile under the muscle. Last week my doctor said i could stop wearing my compression band every day unless one seems higher than the other, and she said i could go ahead and go bra shopping. My left breast feels tighter than the right. Is this okay? I am massaging daily. The feeling is getting annoying though
Answer: Is it normal for one breast to still feel "tighter" than the other? Thank you for your question. It is not uncommon to have slightly different sensations in your breasts after surgery. Depending on the amount of swelling from surgery, tightness of your muscle, and size of implants, it may take several months for your breasts to reach their long-term results. At nearly 2 months from your surgery, i would anticipate that your implants have dropped, and its a situation of your overlying breast tissue and skin relaxing enough to accommodate the new implants. Hang in there and give it another month, you should find your left breast softer, and more similar to your right.

Answer: One breast still feel "tighter" than the other Thank you for your inquiry and congrats on your procedure! It is understandable that you are a little annoyed with the current uncomfortable feelings you have with your breasts. Nonetheless, you are still at the early stages of the recovery journey. The massaging will definitely help and so I would continue doing it.It is important that you would make sure to keep communicating with your surgeon at all times. The best of luck to you.Ali Sajjadian, MD FACS

Answer: Normal for one breast to feel tighter than the other? You are nearing the 2 month mark out from surgery and it is possible to start developing an early capsular contracture (scar tissue forming around the implants). If you just saw your surgeon last week, it would seem that she is not concerned about that. But if you feel over the next week or two that the tightness continues to worsen rather than improve, I would recommend you follow up with her sooner rather than later. There are some things that can be done for a very early capsular contracture to mitigate the formation. But again, if you just saw your surgeon and she was not concerned, hopefully all is fine. Best of luck with your continued recovery!

Answer: Is it normal for one breast to still feel "tighter" than the other? It's not uncommon for your breasts to heal at different rates and one to lag behind the other. They typically don't heal at the same rate for anyone. If your surgeon wasn't concerned at your follow up after you discussed the tight feeling you are experiencing, I would just keep an eye on it. Massage is always a good idea as far as I'm concerned. If the tightness worsens or you notice it sitting higher than the other or getting harder, go see your surgeon for a follow up as you may be starting to get a capsular contracture. There are medications you can take to help. Best of luck. ac
