Lift with existing implants? is it plausible to do so using my existing implants, placing them sub muscular?

30 yrs old 5’8” 150lbs steady weight, mediocre skin quality. 750 and 800 cc high profile silicone mentor implants placed subglandular 3 yrs ago to fill deflated breast tissue settling for a happy medium between my budget and my dream results. Love the implants, no complications or quality issues. I would like a lift now. as long as they’re still good quality, is it plausible to do so using my existing implants, placing themsub muscular?

A breast lift is done to correct the nipple position and reduce extra skin. It sounds like the implants are filling up the extra skin. A plastic surgeon would have to look at how much extra skin is available and if your breast position meets the criteria for doing a lift.  I personally would not advise using the same implants due to the size and weight.

Yes, as long as your implants are in good condition (they should be at only 3 years old), you can absolutely get a breast lift and have the implants placed under the muscle. There is no problem performing breast lift over implants. However, considering that your implants are already 3 years old you have to decide to leave them where they are (on top of muscle) or place new set of implants underneath the muscle. I do not see rason for moving the implants since you are happy with result and breast lift is going to be performed over the implants. You should discuss this issue with your surgeon ahead of surgery. Good luck.

Simultaneous repositioning of large implants in the submuscular position while performing a lift can be challenging. It is possible, but may not be the best strategy. Performing a lift while leaving your implants where they are may be a better option. An in person exam and discussion will help you make the best decision.

Hello! It certainly is possible to do a lift without changing implants, even subglanular implants. It is important to know that if there is any capsular contracture, or malposition, it may be beneficial to change them out. Also, there is always a risk the implants may be damaged during the lift procedure, though this risk is very small.

Lifting the breasts leaving the implants in place and disturbed  is done commonly.  The problem is that it’s tough to do with implants that large. You will find it hard to find a plastic surgeon who can or is willing to do it.

With your very large and heavy implants, a lift will not hold and they will not fit behind the muscle. If you go down in size, the implants could be placed behind the muscle and a lift could be done that might hold.

The safest answer is new implants. Whenever we change the position of implants, there is also a chance at infecting these old implants, and the fact that they may not last as long as a new pair of implants. This does seem like a good idea if the implants appear to be in good shape, however, I would say that our industry standard is to undergo the lift and remove the old implants and placed the new implants underneath the muscle. Have a conversation about your goals with a board-certified plastic surgeon. We are happy to help in any way we can.

The addition of pre and present naked breast photos would allow us to accurately answer your questions.  Why do you want the implants placed submuscular if you are already happy except for the height of your nipple/areolas?
It is certainly possible to do either a lift or a lift and submusclular placement (although your implants are huge and the muscles must be adequately elevated.
