Hello! I was looking to get either Juvederm or Restylane for my hollow tear troughs that I have, but since it just essentially makes the skin underneath the eyes more plump, will it make a large blue vein I have underneath one of my eyes less visible? I think there's a laser treatment for under eye veins, which I'm also looking into, but if the injectable can help I would just prefer to do that. Any feedback or advice from you all would be appreciated. Thanks!

Answer: Fillers for EyeVeins The fillers can help camoflage the vein if injected properly. My suggestion is to have the vein removed with a 532 KTP laser (EVCEL V) or a verilite or a long-pulsed YAG laser. See a cosmetic dermatolgist with experience in lasers and veins. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Tear troughs Periocular filler is aimed at addressing your nasojugal grooves (tear trough) and palpebromalar grooves at your lower eyelid-cheek junction. It would not be wise to rely on filler to disguise a prominent vein, it may help, but in fact it may make it worse. If a hyaluronic acid filler is injected too superficially around the eye it can actually appear blue itself because of something called the Tyndall effect. That is not to say that it would restrict you from having future treatment of that vein if desired. Periocular filler requires experience: technical experience and experience with particular products. Many experienced injectors prefer other products over Juvederm in this area particularly because of how much water it absorbs. Good news is, if you don't like it, it can be dissolved. Good luck, hope it helps your vein disappear too.
