I've had 3 cesareans & was told I have a lot of scar tissue. For the last 2 years I've really been thinking about getting a tummy tuck with some Lipo but I don't know if that will help or worsen my scar tissue? We may want to have another baby & I don't know if this procedure will complicate things.
Answer: Tummy tuck and C-section scarring Typically a c-section scar will be excised in the course of a tummy tuck and replaced by a low transverse hip to hip incision. With regards to timing, I would recommend delaying any body contouring until your family is complete unless you are comfortable with likely need for revision afterwards.AS always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Answer: Would a tummy tuck help me ? hmmm, were you told by your obstetrician you have a lot of scar tissue ? they are usually then referring to internal scarring around the uterus from the 3 sections. Tummy tuck is a surgery that is limited to superficial to the abdominal wall. After 3 C-sections I suspect you also have external scarring and overhang of skin. This is a the area that is improved by a tummy tuck. Liposuction and tummy tuck will not have any effect on internal scarring and vice versa. However, if you are planning on having more kids you should wait to get the tummy tuck till after childbearing is complete.Good Luck !

Answer: TT for C section scars Thanks so much for reaching out. Yes a tummy tuck would be a very good option in clearing out the scarring and scar tissue from prior C-sections. However if you're planning on having another baby I would wait until after you were done with your pregnancy to schedule a tummy tuck. I hope this helps :-)

Answer: Tummy tuck Hello and thank you for your question. A tummy tuck can remove all the scar tissue from previous c-sections. It advisable that you wait until you are done having children prior to a tummy tuck. When the time is right for surgery, a tummy tuck can be done through a low and short incision, all completely below the bikini line. The belly button can be designed to look natural and have no scars on the exterior. Your muscles can also be plicated resulting in a flat abdomen. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Tummy Tuck A revision of the c-section scar would likely be helpful and adding a tummy tuck with liposuction will help the overall contour. If you are thinking of additional pregnancies, I recommend you wait. No reason to go through the surgery and have the result compromised with the effects of pregnancy. Best wishes.
