My nose keeps turning purple after revision rhino. People have noticed. How can I get rid of this? (Photo)

Question

I had revision rhino with rib about 4.5 months ago (significant augmentation of the nose after being deprojected in 2 previous surgeries. Was told by revision experts that I needed projection back in order to achieve my goal of being able to breathe) and my nose is still turning purple. It's not constant but it happens a few times a day , especially after I shower or am in the bathroom. It was really purple/reddish earlier today and I noticed when I touch it lightly, it blanches.

Hello and thank you for your question. Color changes can happen in the multiple revision patient. Usually time helps to improve this and since you are only 4.5 months postop time will likely be on your side. Lasers traditionally do not help with this so I do not recommend trying that. I recommend that you maintain close follow-up with your surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

You are experiencing ischemia, likely due to the fact you've had so many rhinos and then that most recently you are stretching the skin by augmenting it. Unfortuantely this is a matter of waiting and time to help improve but things you can do to accelerate that would be to consider hyperbaric oxygen and/or some lasers can help too.
