How do I get rid of this horizontal fold or crease between my eyes? It's as if my forehead is slipping down (Photo)

Botox treatment of the glabella can absolutely help reduce the appearance of the horizontal line between the eyes.   The procerus muscle runs perpendicular to the wrinkle so relaxing it with Botox will weaken the animation contributing to the line. This can also give a subtle lift of the eyebrows, making them less heavy.  Most patients will experience enough of an improvement with this treatment; however there is the possibility of needing an injectable filler a few weeks after the Botox for further correction, depending on the patient’s age, skin elasticity, and the depth of the wrinkle. Botox can help a fold like this as it will relax the muscle that pulls the brow down (procerus muscle). However, seldom does Botox alone make that horizontal fold completely go away. Usually we are doing a combination of Botox and a filler, like Juvederm or Restylane there. Botox is commonly used to improve a horizontal crease between the eyes.  This crease is caused by the procerus muscle and may be included with treatment to the glabella, but this depends on the physician treating you.  The procerus muscle can also be treated by itself without affecting the corrugator muscles that cause vertical lines between the eyes.

Thank you for your question and picture.  The lines are also know as the bunny lines.  They can be relaxed in most cases with Botox.  You want to ensure you are seeing an experience nurse injector or physician.  Good luck

Thanks for your question and yes, the procerus muscle is involved here and when the glabellar complex is treated with Botox, or Dysport or Xeomin, this horizontal line can also be improved.  If needed, a superficial dermal filler can also be used.  We always recommend that you have these injections performed in the offices of board certified dermatologists or plastic surgeons.
