Can a doctor explain why my one eyebrow won't raise normally after botox? (Photos)

Question

I got botox in my forehead and gabella, but now, as you can see in the pic, the beginnkng part of my right eye brow isn't raising as much. The right brow muscle also seems more contracted/bulky to the touch even tho it can't actually squeeze it tight to frown. This has never happened when I only got my gabella region done. I'm wondering if the botox wasnt injected well and cause my right forehead muscle to not be able to pull up. Is there a way to fix/prevent this?

Thank you for your question. Your face is naturally asymmetrical as there is no such thing as a symmetrical face. How long ago did you receive the injections? Although the effects of Botox are immediate, some patients may need a slightly longer period for the Botox to take effect. Please find comfort knowing that the Botox injections wear off within 3-4 months. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon.

Thank you for your question. There is always a chance for asymmetry when the gabella and the forehead are injected. This can be corrected by having the left side injected with a small amount of Botox. Your injector can place the injections a little higher on the forehead next time, as this may help with your brow position. No matter what your Botox will wear off in 3-4 months and you will be back to normal. Best of Luck!

Neurotoxins such as Botox is placed within targeted muscles of the face to relax them.  It appears that reason the middle portion of your right brow does not raise due to the the muscles that were injected.  Follow up with your injector so touch up corrections can be made to improve the symmetry between the brows.  Best of luck!

In a way, you already answered your own question: it never happened when you only had the glabella injected, but this time, you had the forehead injected as well. The medial portion of your right brow is dropped subtly because the frontalis muscle, which raises the brows, is now relaxed. If you want to prevent this, the frontalis must be injected in. Dry small amounts very high or not at all.
You also, by the way, have a quizzical brow on your right side. This can be corrected with 2 units to your right lateral frontalis.

There is a slight asymmetry.  Botox can spread after the injection and affect one side differently more than the other.  A touch up can help better match the two eyebrows, otherwise, it will resolve over the next few months.Best of luck.Dr T

Thanks for your question. From your before photo you appear to have a very slight asymmetry in your eyebrow position even at rest. This can get accentuated following Botox injections.  A well trained injector can place your injections in such a way as to counteract this.  Be sure to stick with an experienced and well trained physician injector who can help you get the results you are looking for. Thank you for your question. The eyebrows are controlled by muscles in the glabella and forehead. If you have botox in these two areas, there is always a chance of slight asymmetry after injections. The reason behind this has to do with the relative strength of your forehead and glabella muscles, and any differences that may exist between the two sides of your face. Sometimes, this is difficult to pick up on prior to injections. After injections, however, it can become readily apparent. Your asymmetry is there, but subtle. If it really bothers you, then you can have the left side injected a bit more to make it match the right. In the future, your injector can likely place the injections higher on the forehead - which may not affect your brow position that much. But, the reality is that if yo want botox injections in both of these areas then you may need little tweaks here or there regardless of the injector's skill. Chances are, with time, it'll get better. And within 3-4 months, it'll be completely back to normal, as the botox will have worn off. Best of luck!
